New Addition: Cole Gilder and Bungalow Rocker from Nurseryworks

I promised to let you know when the new Nurseryworks rocker and glider came out and the time is now.  I’ve added the Bungalow Rocker and Cole Glider to buymodernbabyseats and have a few new photos to share with you.

First up… the Cole Gilder…

The glider and ottoman are built with a plywood base and feature a slim silhouette at only 30″ wide (25″ for the ottoman).  The ottoman has a little book shelf underneath.  You can choose a light or dark base and one of three suede colors with or without contrasting piping.  The glider retails for $700 and the ottoman is an additional $300.

The Cole Glider is almost like the Goodnight Glider used to be, but that one started at $1200 (not including the $620 ottoman).  You might still be able to find a few of those out there.  They’ll most likely be clearance (or ebay) items and could be worth finding if you’re looking for brighter, fun colors.

The next little beauty is the Bungalow Rocker.

The Bungalow Rocker is available with a Light Ash or Dark Ash base and in three suede colors.  It retails for $800.  You might have noticed me use it in a nursery design board several months ago!

I really liked the bright orange rocker that was shown in the Nurseryworks display at ABC Kids, but they are clearly going with some safer neutrals instead.

You can purchase both the Bungalow Rocker and the Cole Glider and Ottoman through my Modern Nursery affiliate links.

The Fishing Hole Shape Sorter ($25) teaches children 1 and up colors and size recognition.  The Geared Shape Sorter ($30) teaches children 18 months and older about shapes and colors and helps improve fine motor skills.  These will be released on June 1st but can be pre-ordered now.

I love all the P’kolino puzzles and their new 3 (not shown), 6, and 12 piece puzzles are more to love.  You can pre-order these today and they will be released on June 1st.  They also have two new multi-solution puzzles, the Spaceship and the Owl.  I really wish we had these all.

All the multi-solution puzzles are available right now for $20 a piece.  These, along with any of the other P’kolino toys, make incredible gifts!

New Addition: Eames Molded Plastic Armchair with Rocker Base

This isn’t news to anyone, but an Eames Rocker is a beautiful choice for a modern nursery.  I’ve been delinquent in adding it to my list of rocking chairs but I took care of it today.  Unlike the fiberglass originals, today’s Eames molded chairs are made of 100% recyclable polypropylene (not that I’m sure why you’d ever be throwing it into a recycling bin).  For $480, this is the most inexpensive rocker on the list, although that does tell me I need to do some work and find more budget friendly rocking chair options!

These come in a variety of neutral and bright colors.

If plastic doesn’t quite do it for you and you want to purchase a new fiberglass shell chair, they are currently being manufactured by Modernica so you can take a look at those as well.  Those cost about $375 when purchased new.

There are plenty of places to score knock-off chairs like these for as little as $125 if you’re just going for the look.

If you’re comfortable with the feel of the chair, you know you can’t go wrong with the design.

But you don’t have to take MY word for it!  To see examples of a these rockers used in different nurseries, take a look at my flickr gallery.

New at Restoration Hardware

There are a few especially interesting pieces in Restoration Hardware Baby & Child’s new collection and some that would do well in a modern space.

First is their new Roll Arm Rocker for $1100-$1500.

These mini chairs- the 1950’s Copenhagen Chair ($1200) and the Mini Devon Chair ($750) are show-stoppers in leather.

I also really like the Foundry Metal Cubby System ($800 as shown) as a storage option.  If you want something more durable than an Expedit from Ikea, I think this powder-coated iron shelving might to the trick.

There are also a number of interesting decor items that would infuse a space with tons of personality.

Petit Nest Launches at ABC Kids Expo

Newcomers Petit Nest launched their line of nursery furniture and bedding this week at the ABC Kids Expo.  You’ve probably heard about this new company because of the celebrities who started it– Tiffani Thiessen (Saved by the Bell, 90210 etc…) and Lonni Paul (a finalist on HGTV’s Design Star).

Their furniture collection includes cribs, dressers, changing stations, and gliders.

At first I thought the cribs and dressers were too gooped up for my taste but the more I look at them, the more I like them and can see how they could be used to design gorgeous nurseries.

What I REALLY loved was the bedding collections though.  As soon as I get more photos of them I’ll add Petit Nest to buymodernbedding, but you should really take a look at these.

My most favorite thing at their booth was this adorable rocking chick– but I don’t see it on their website.
