Inspired of course by the nursery for triplets in the 2010 San Francisco Decorator Showcase:
I put together a budget version of the room! This plan can be used for multiples or scaled down for a singleton and look serene and spectacular.
1- The most striking feature to me of the original room is the lighting. The sparkly modern chandeliers are amazing and certainly not inexpensive. The best likenesses I could find were over $500. When you multiply that by 3, it’s not cheap, so I went Ikea’s not sparkly Knappa pendant lamps for $30 each. 3 for $90
This could be a great DIY project if you want to try and recreate something more sparkly. I’m thinking Christmas lights?
2- The cribs are Baby Mod Olivia Cribs from Walmart. These are $300 each. 3 for $900
The rugs are Hampen from Ikea for $50 each. 3 for $150.
3- Any white framed rectangular wall mirrors would do but I found these Floating Wood Wall Mirrors from West Elm for $200 a piece. 3 for $600
4- The dressers are from Walmart as well. On the left is the Topolino three drawer chest (for $130) and on the right is the Topolino Double Dresser (for $160). $290 for the two.
The bears are Aurora Plush Iceberg Super Flopsie for $38. They are standing in for the HANNSpree Polar Bear TV.
5- The original room has beautiful, fun animal photographs by Catherine Ledner that start at $250. I’ve replaced those with equally fun prints from WildLifePrints’ etsy shop for $20 each. 3 for $60.
Some Like it Cold
Little Hooves
Fancy Prance
The pictures just need frames and a nice picture ledge like Ribba from Ikea for $20. I have one of these at my house and it works out great.
6- The side table is from Target for $170.
7- I chose Ikea’s Tirup swivel chair for $400 instead of Thomas Pedersen’s Stingray Rocking Chair.
8- The Husvik Floor Lamp from Ikea is an excellent reading lamp for $80.
9- Finally a white fur pillow (or a throw) for extra cozy, furry texture for $3o.
Grand Total for Triplets- $2738 !! Less than $2800!
Paint the walls (don’t forget the special wall treatment), add a changing platform, some crib sheets and you’re set.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend! I’ll be back to blogging on Tuesday.
