Coming Soon: Mima Debuts in the US at ABC Kids Expo 2013

Everyone gets excited when a sleek European brand crosses the Atlantic, and this year that brand is Mima.  The Dutch brand has only been around since 2009, but with its sleek, high-end look, it’s getting everyone’s attention.

The Kobi is a versatile single, double or twin stroller that starts at $1300.  It’s available now with tons of color options and accessories.

The Xari is a $1200 stroller that is only available as a single… but a beautiful single.

What do you think of the special edition plaid versions?

Mima’s lightweight stroller is called Bo.  This one should be out in January and retail for $350.

Mima’s Moon transforms from newborn lounger to high chair to junior chair and features multiple recline positions as well as easy height adjustment.  This sleek modern high chair will retail for about $450 and should be available in January.

I’ll be very interested to see how Mima catches on in North America.

Froc Modern High Chair

I don’t usually post products from Slovenia, but they assured me that they ship the Froc High Chair all over the world and most of them head to the US, so we’re going to have a look.

The Froc High Chair is a fun and funky adjustable high chair that should work for most kids from 6 months to 10 years of age.

They boast superior stability and maximum safety and the picture has me sold on that point.

Available in 5 colors, the Froc can be ordered from their website for 199,00 €, which is about $270.

If you’re looking for something practical but a little out of the ordinary, this might be just the high chair for you.

Nuna Zaaz High Chair

I recently published the top 10 high chairs for 2013, but I’m going to have to find a way to squeeze the Zaaz from Nuna onto that list.

ZAAZ DEMO VIDEO from Nuna on Vimeo.

I love the look of this sturdy chair through all its stages.  It’s a truly modern, stylish seat both as a high chair and as a child’s chair.

It comes in three color combinations and I’d say if there’s any room for improvement for the Zaaz it lies in the color choices.  I’d love to see all 7 of the European colors brought here as well.

The Zaaz is a beautiful, easy to clean and highly adjustable high chair that should have made it onto our high chair list months ago.  Retails for $250.

Best High Chairs 2013: Sponsored by Babylist

For part two of our baby registry series sponsored by Babylist, I’m sharing my top 10 favorite high chairs for 2013.  When I’m looking for high chairs, I’m looking for a compact, simple design and a chair that’s easy to clean.  Things like footrests, height adjustments, cushions and five point harnesses are additional bells and whistles that you may or may not care about.

1- BABYBJÖRN High Chair– $300
This sleek and simple design is lightweight and folds up to save space.  The curved backrest hugs the child and the adjustable table is designed to fit snugly against baby’s belly.  It is available in white as well as red.

2- Babyhome Eat– $175
This lightweight chair (7.5 lbs) features a seat in 7 different fabric color options.  To clean, the entire seat can be removed and thrown into the washing machine.  The chair also folds flat for easy storage.

3- Ikea Antilop– $20 (+$5 for a tray)
This is the ultimate high chair stripped of any bells and whistles whatsoever.  Even the tray is optional.  For the price, this easy to clean, easy to assemble seat does the job.  This is what we used for our two boys and I would make the same choice again.  Also currently available in blue and red.

4- Boon Flair– $280
The Flair features a one piece sleek seat that is east to clean and the tray even fits in the dishwasher.  Pneumatic height adjustment makes it easy to lift and lower and with locking wheels, it’s easy to move around.

5- Stokke Tripp Trapp– $250
Designed in 1972, the Tripp Trapp is a modern design classic.  It is designed to work from baby to adult and comes in a rainbow of colors.  This is the ideal combo if you’re going for equal parts look, function and longevity.

6- Bloom Fresco Chrome– $450
This is your Ferrari of high chairs.  Its got your fancy finishes, flashy colors and price tag to match, but you’ve also got top performance and functionality to go with it.  With 4 frame options and 14 seat pad options, you can get the look you love.  Then you also get 3 recline positions, 360-degree swivel, pneumatic height adjustment etc…

7- Svan Signet High Chair– $260
The Signet features solid bentwood construction.  The durable seat is designed with adjustable seat depth, seat height and footrest to provide ergonomic support for your growing child.  The handle on the back makes it easy to move.

8- OXO Sprout High Chair– $250
This is a comfortable padded high chair with a lovely simple design.  It is adjustable for 6 month to 5 years with the removable tray and adjustable height footrest.  There are five color combinations with walnut or birch frames and green, orange, pink and taupe cushions.

9- Phil & Teds Highpod– $200
The Highpod is designed to tilt from upright to relax mode and all the way down into sleep position.  It’s called “the ultimate feed and snooze high chair.”  The height is adjustable at five different levels and the seat is insulated but easy to clean.

10- Monte Tavo High Chair– $300
Without a tray, this stylish seat pulls right up to the table.  It blends into your decor and doesn’t scream baby.  The base is a compact 19″ x 19″ and is available in natural or espresso. You can choose brown, black or white bonded leather for the easy to wipe seat.  This would have been a beautiful option for our dining room.

Those are my top 10, but I have a few more modern options on our complete list of modern high chairs and boosters.
