For this month I was inspired by the soothing poetry of Susan Swanson and etched illustrations of Beth Krommes in the Caldecott award winning picture book, “The House in the Night.” Even in the darkness, the light shines through this soothing bedtime story.
In only black, white and yellow, the images are rich and textured. Even though the pages are mostly black, a light glows through it all and there’s nothing to fear in the night.
With Perfect Gray walls, I’ve made the room a bit lighter than the book but used similar dark tones with yellow accents. There’s nothing to fear at bedtime in this glowing modern nursery.

Oh, the dreams that will be cultivated here! I feel privileged to share this inspirational space with you all. The art and accessories on the dark gray background are what really make this room incredible.

Last month we did pink, and this month Lullaby Paints challenged me to use a shade of purple. We went feminine with the pink, but I think I’ve taken purple in the most un-girly direction possible. Purple is last on the list of colors I’d choose in my own house, but I could definitely live with this scheme! I started with the Moonlight Bear art piece by Seventy Tree and things developed from there. We’ve got many more products and options that would fit in this space on our Pinterest board. We use Pinterest to collect our ideas and develop our designs each month and I highly recommend it for compiling inspiration for your own space.

We’re so happy to continue our nursery board series with Lullaby Paints this year, but we’re doing it a little differently this time! While we’re still starting with ultra-safe, eco-friendly paint from Lullaby Paints, this time we’ve been using Pinterest boards to collect sources and inspiration as we work to develop the final product below. I really hope you’ve been following along this month as this Gray, Pink & Yellow Nursery Design came together.
This month we chose a medium shade of gray called Pewter. It’s part of the color collection created exclusively for Wayfair.com. Gray is THE hottest color for modern nurseries and Pewter is dark enough to be a bold choice but light enough to not make the room look gloomy. With bright pink and yellow accents and white furnishings, this room is anything but dark.

Thanks to Little Auggie for sponsoring this nursery design and letting me play around with the Robot March bedding collection. The robots are fun to work with but I could just as easily have ignored them completely and just used the pattern to add a hint of color in a gray nursery.
So what do you think? Does it need more robots, less robots or did we get it just right?
