What is more classic and familiar than the book “Goodnight Moon”?
It was my inspiration for this super colorful modern nursery. First I searched to find if there was anything out there similar to what I was setting out to do. I didn’t find any “real” rooms based on this theme. but apparently there is a children’s museum (in California?) that has a version of the room to play in. It looks like soo much fun…
For my modern nursery version of the room, paint the walls green (or not), get some green and yellow striped curtains and if you’re really brave, paint the trim red. I was excited to find that using this rainbow color palette actually resulted in a fresh looking room.
A while ago I featured Rikshaw Design‘s gorgeous crib bedding sets. My favorite is the Udaipur set so I’ve used that as the inspiration for this nursery. I’ve created two versions of this room and I really couldn’t tell you which one I like better. The first version on the top retails for about $6000, but the one below is less than half the price at $2600. Either way, the nursery is a warm, bright and gender-neutral space with a hint of exotic flavor. (I know, I’ve got to move on from the green and orange. I’ll try.)
1- Udaipur Crib Bedding Set from Rikshaw Design- $380 plus Elephant Pillow $52 (both)
2- Low Rider Glider from Monte Design- $900 (rich)
Allison Rocker – Green– $550 (reasonable)
I love Rohn Robshaw’s crib bedding and while it would be gorgeous in a rich traditional nursery, I wanted to come up with a more modern luxurious nursery with this “Noah’s Ark” bedding set. This room has a very gender-neutral theme and palette.
1- Noah’s Ark Crib Set by John Robshaw– 4 piece set for $575 plus $70 for pillow
2- Elephant Bank, Lion and Hippo from Jonathan Adler- $78, $135, $250
