Crib Bedding Options from Carters

If you’re looking for fun and inexpensive crib bedding, Carters has a couple of new options for you to consider.

The crib sheet from their Bumper to Bumper collection features cute (but not cutesy) graphics and great colors.  The Safari Sky collection features a jungle motiff and is a good inexpensive option if you really want jungle animal bedding.

Just be careful not to go crazy buying lots of pieces from the collection.  I’d recommend getting just the crib sheets ($16 each) and then layering in other items that you collect to go with it.

New From Petit Collage for Fall

I’m a huge fan of Petit Collage so whenever I find something new from them I can’t wait to share it with you.

First, take a look at the sweet Deluxe Bird Mobile.  It’s available with either blue or red wings for $66.

There are also 3 new Jumbo Wood Panel art pieces.  Here’s the Bird Family and there’s also an Elephant Family and a Town (that I’d have called a Zoo) for $220.  These measure 24″ x 36″.

They Posted These So I Don’t Have To

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week.

First of all, I have to show you this incredible (Not So) Mellow Yellow Mood Board from chalk + dot.  Just paint the walls your favorite shade of gray and you’ve good to go!  Visit the post for all the sources and the inspiration.

I seriously had no idea you could do this, but Honey & Fitz shared their secret of Converting an upholstered chair into a swivel glider.  There is no longer any acceptable reason to have an ugly rocker or glider in you home.

Being a Floridian, I had to take note of babyology’s A Flock of Flamingos.  Such a fun roundup (even though I’ve never actually seen a Flamingo in Florida!).

Coos & Ahhs rocked another “Word of the Week” post (they’re all incredible) with this super-fun elephant roundup.  Twenty-two wonderful elephants 🙂

My Modern Guest from With Two Cats

Etsy Find: Heavenly Creatures Art

If you’re looking for some sophisticated animal nursery art, I’ve found a great option for you.  Helen Ann Marie Jones of HamjArt on etsy has some beautiful work.

She sells animal notecards, jewelry, totes and prints in her etsy shop, but you should particularly take a look at the 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 prints.  My favorites are the parent and child pieces with a white background.  They are sweet, simple and beautiful.  You can choose your favorite or put together a grouping.  These five prints are just a sampling of the collection.

Real Room Tour: Marcus’ Soothing Safari

Yean, aka Mrs. Julius, of the blog “My Sunrise, Sunshine & Sunset“, was so kind to send me a message sharing photos of her gorgeous son Marcus’ nursery.  I am so flattered that she was able to use this blog to find some inspiration for this chic and soothing space.

The focal point of the room is the crib wall, where a Gulliver crib from Ikea sits against the Birch Trees Vinyl Wall Decal from wallwordz.  This is a very popular nursery motif and I love the pops of yellow from the birds in this particular version.  I also love the bedding choice from babydarling on etsy, which Yean discovered in my post from last February.  Awesome!

The shelf above the crib features a Fisher Price Teaching Clock that belonged to Marcus’ father as a child.  I love when people use their own treasured toys in their children’s rooms.  In case your parents threw yours out decades ago, you can pick up a remake of the clock (or lots of other Fisher Price classics).

The  Ikea Expedit features some closed storage (which is great for reducing visual clutter) as well as some wild stuffed occupants.

Yean made the crib mobile herself and so it’s super customized to match the nursery perfectly.

The reading and changing area includes some personal mementos as well as some Ikea staples like the dresser and the chair.

Yean discovered the animal alphabet print from inktree press in one of my posts and had it customized to go with the colors in this room.  Love it!

Spread throughout the room are some additional elephants.

Congratulations Yean on the incredible job you did decorating this nursery and on your adorable little guy!  Thank you so much for sharing it with me and for supporting Buy Modern Baby!

My Modern Nursery #39: Reader Request

I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I posted a design board!  That doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on them.  I’ve especially enjoyed working with Robin on her baby’s gender neutral nursery over the past couple weeks.  Robin came to me with an inspiration and a very small room.  She was drawn to the Alphabet Poster by Jenn Ski so I used that as a starting point.  We worked back and forth and this is what we came up with.
