They Posted These So I Don’t Have To

These are my favorite posts from around the web this past week.  In case you’re wondering how I choose my favorites, as I go through the blogs I follow through the week, I mark the posts that really catch my eye.  On Fridays, I go through all the posts I’ve marked and pick the five that I like the best (and that have images at least 480px wide).  Those are the ones I share!  No secret formula.  If I don’t find five, I’ll just post three or four.  But usually I’m narrowing it down to the five.

Today I have several room tours including this one, Eric’s Soothing Stripes on Ohdeedoh, which is may favorite nursery that I’ve seen in a while.  I know lots of you are going to love this one because of the yellow and gray color scheme.

Can I just put this Modern Boy’s Room with Transportation Theme from On To Baby right into my own home?!  I love how clean and bright it is and there’s so much incredible storage in this space.  Love it.

Design Mom posted a wonderful nursery tour in her post Living With Kids: Martina Ahlbrandt.  Lots of color inspiration to be had!

Look at the Birdie and Smile has been cranking out some really terrific product posts including this fun (Halloween appropriate) 4 of Friday: Cat Mobiles feature.  It’s a great roundup!

Finally, Small for Big had a great shop find in Soopsori’s On! Their toys will make incredible gifts for the holidays so I recommend you visit the shop soon!

Just a little reminder that this is the last weekend to cast your vote for the Totally Awesome Awards.  We’re thrilled to be on the list for “Most Awesome Nursery and Decor Sites.” What’s cool about voting in the Totally Awesome Awards is a) it’s really easy to do and b) you’re entered to win some fab prizes including the Grand Prize: a $500 Gift Certificate to giggle, 1st Prize: A Flip Video Camera (value $300) and 2nd Prize: A Large Organic Plush Winnie-the-Pooh (value $110).  I’ve voted in many of the categories and can’t wait to see the results!

Have a very fun Halloween weekend!  We’ll be carving pumpkins and having dinner with neighbors tomorrow– an annual tradition at our house– so I’m very excited for that.  Also, after Halloween, we’re going to be starting our Holiday Giveaway Series, so follow us on twitter and Facebook to be sure you don’t miss a chance to win any of our incredible giveaways!

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week.  You may have noticed I didn’t have a Friday link post last week.  That was because I didn’t find enough stuff to make it worth doing!  This week, thankfully, was a whole different story.  I have a full five links that are most definitely worth a visit.

Chalk + Dot put together another one of their awesomely fun nursery inspiration boards.  This time the theme is Up, Up and Away! A Superhero Nursery.  My favorite item is the comic shelf (#8) which unfortunately isn’t sold in the US.

It’s hard to believe that black and white could really make a beautiful nursery, but this “Room for Baby: Black and White Alright” on baby space has me convinced.  Between the wallpaper, bloom furniture and the egg chair, this room is more than just alright– I’ll say it was done right!

I’m not embarrassed to say I’m a fan of Sharon Montrose and even though coos & ahhs is having a busy week and needed A Pause, she was kind enough to let us know about the new Little Darlings series in The Animal Print Shop.  I’m in love with the Baby Monkey.  That’s a face I could look at every day!

Now you should be following Kickcan & Conkers, but if you’re not, you might have missed the beautiful, colorful cushions she found in P is for Pouf.

Last but not least is with two cats’ Nursery Idea Board No. 1: Neon Geometry.  I’ve been bookmarking neon items for weeks now but Lauren totally beat me to it.  She’s totally got some of my favorites in there and this board looks terrific!

I’m so looking forward to this weekend.  The weather is going to be incredible.  Today is the first day this fall that we’ve been able to open all the windows in the house up.  This is my FAVORITE time of year in South Florida!   It makes me so happy.

Something that will make YOU happy would be winning our lovemaki art print giveaway.  This weekend is your last opportunity to enter because we’ll be picking the winner on Monday!!  Pick one of these in the color combination of your choice:

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week.

This Sunny Yellow inspiration board on ebabee Likes just makes me smile.  So cheerful and it’s got me thinking yellow.

This pop art inspired nursery for Poppy featured on Ohdeedoh this week is just too cool.  It’s girly perfection that even a teenage girl would be comfortable with.

Ampersand Design Studio Spotted: Rex Ray for Blik.  It’s such a great collection of wall decals that would be at home in a modern nursery or anywhere else in the home.  Love!

And Nursery Notations totally beat me to posting the New Pieces from West Elm.  She picked the best ones.  Beautiful.

Finally, my favorite relevant Steve Jobs quote (as I sit at my iMac, my little one plays on my iPad and I wait for my iPhone to alert me that it’s time to head to the bus stop to pick up my Kindergartner):

“Most people make the mistake of thinking design is what it looks like. People think it’s this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, ‘Make it look good!’ That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

Something to keep in mind with all design.

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web this past week.  Just because I’ve been posting up a storm, doesn’t mean that I haven’t been keeping up with my blog reader!

Julia from the boo and the boy found these photos of A Colorful Family Home.  It’s a beautiful house tour with inspiration around every corner.

Coos & Ahhs posted these gorgeous Stacking Blocks by MoMa and I’m ready to order them up.  (on a side note here, isn’t is amazing what kind of influence beautiful photography can have on product marketing?)

With a lighter but just as colorful palette, with two cats assembled a beautiful collection in her Color Craze post.

I also want to share the trailer for “Being Elmo.”  Whether you’re a fan of Elmo or can’t stand him, there’s no way you won’t love Kevin Clash. (via Babyology)

Finally, in case you’ve forgotten to do so, I’d truly be grateful for your vote in Parents magazine’s Best Blog Awards. Thank you!

These are my favorite posts from around the internet this past week.

This Living With Kids: Maria Fé post is a can’t miss room tour that was on Design Mom this past week.  Featuring Ferm Living Wilderness Wallpaper and Spot on Square’s Eicho crib, this is a cozy, modern, and totally stylish space.

I’ve been wondering what a white on white nursery would be like, and if you can get past worrying about stains, this Shades of White Nursery Mood Board on chalk + dot presents a stunningly relaxing look.

Chic Spaces for Little Faces put together a great roundup of lockers in children’s spaces in the wonderful post Lockers aren’t just for school anymore.  Lots of great photos and sources.

This Today I Love… The Night Sky post on Oh So Beautiful Paper was inspired by Stargazing.  I think this would make for great nursery inspiration as well!

Finally, I liked Ohdeedoh’s roundup of Wall Art: 10 Pretty and Proud Peacocks.  I’ve used a couple of the prints in nursery boards.  For some reason I’m partial to peacocks.

Enjoy those posts for today and tomorrow!  I’m leaving for ABC Kids Expo 2011 tomorrow and I’ll post from there ASAP!

I came across so many beautiful things in my time on the internet this week. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love the art collection and bright, fun palette of this Sunshiny Day nursery on Lay Baby Lay.  Click to see the rest of the design.

I don’t usually share pictures from The Boo and the Boy because they are never linked to the original source, but this photo got me really excited.  Part of a round-up of Random Kids Spaces, how cool is this room?!  Just don’t show it to your Feng Shui master.

After having seen just one photo from Laura Garcia’s nursery, I wanted to see more.  Thanks to Nursery Notations for posting A Closer Look at Laura’s Garcia’s Nursery!

I had to share this post, LEA EVE Studio Deco on kids love design, with an incredible nursery featuring Ninetonine furniture and Inka wallpaper decals.  What an amazingly beautiful combination.

This post on Shared (but separate) kids’ bedrooms on Honey & Fitz is a wonderful collection of strategies and ideas for shared rooms.  Also, watch Dina on THE NATE BERKUS SHOW on 9/15!!

Hope you’re having a great weekend.  Sorry this link love post is late but I hope you find it enjoyable!

These are my favorite pertinent posts from around the internet this past week.

I’m with Lauren on this one.  Alice Mae’s Cozy Modern Space on with two cats is my new favorite nursery for a girl.  Beautiful from top to bottom.

This collection of Cushions for the Kiddos on baby space is fantastic!  It features some of my old favorites and with some new favorite finds.

Finally, it was fun to see an Oeuf Perch bunk bed in this room from Andrika King Design on Nursery Notations.  It’s such a bright and fun space for kids.

These are some of my favorite links from around the web over the past week.

Zoe Ellen’s Nursery was recently featured on ohdeedoh, but I like lay baby lay’s post about it much better.  A beautiful space on a beautiful blog.

I love this Unique Wall Mural Idea on Nursery Notations.  A wall mural using a “cross stitch” technique?!  Like Andrika says, “cute and seems relatively doable right?”

Jason’s Modern Nursery Alphabet Blocks on Oh So Beautiful Paper are not for sale.  I’m just showing you this awesome art piece to a) inspire you and b) make you jealous that some little girl has a dad cool enough to make this for her.

Nursery themes can go overboard and get totally tacky very quickly, but Erica at chalk + dot created this very restrained Nursery for a Little Fireman and I think it really works.

This roundup of DIY Modern Monograms on Modern Parents Messy Kids has a number of examples of personalized art pieces that are not only totally cute, but easy to make.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  We’ll be recovering from our first week of school.
