Etsy find: Huge ABCs Wood Sign by Spunky Fluff on Etsy

Sometimes you just need a huge piece to fill a wall space. Having a grand piece of art vs. a gallery wall or individual prints can make a big impact.

This Alphabet on the Wall sign by Spunky Fluff on Etsy ($92.50) is cut out of plywood and painted the color of your choice.

I love the bold modern look of this piece and may just order one for our playroom in a bright color. This piece would have an entire wall covered in minutes.

Spunky Fluff offers several other designs as well.

Etsy finds: Nursery Art from Leo Little Lion

We are in the transition period between our nursery and new toddler room right now with our little guy. I am on the hunt for a few new things to add to his updated big boy room and I came across some adorable and imaginative prints from Leo Little Lion on Etsy.

With art ranging from bold sets of animal prints to personalized art and even wall decals, this shop stood out to me.

This Royal Safari Set ($75) comes with four prints and your choice of colors. I love the clean bold look of these prints.

The whimsical yet modern tree and bird wall decals (prices vary) are fantastic and would make a huge impact on the crib wall of a nursery or on the blank wall in our toddler room.

Etsy Finds: Felt Toys

I’m finishing my holiday shopping this week and came across a few great felt toy sets. My son is only 19 months old so I love having soft toys. He loves playing doctor, pizza delivery guy, helping daddy around the house or anything pretend these days. Here are three Etsy felt finds that help your child pretend.

Quick and Easy Seasonal Switcheroos for the Nursery

For me, decorating for the holidays got so much better after my son was born just over 18 months ago. Now he notices everything and loves it. There is something so wonderful about sharing holiday traditions and the warmth and love that come with them when you have a family. Here are three easy ways to add seasonal decor to your nursery or children’s rooms.

1. Seasonal art

Buy one nice frame for your nursery or child’s room. Then just switch out the print in the frame as seasons change.

Baby’s First Thanksgiving print including baby’s footprints by Pitter Patter Print on Etsy ($30) would be a fun one to bring in year after year as a reminder of how little your sweetie once was.

Autumn Pumpkin watercolor print ($25) by Apple Sprout Studios is a simple, clean option that could go in the nursery or could easily work with other adult rooms in the house.

Roolaroo Designs also offers some cute fall prints for children featuring animals (4 for $45). While these prints have a fall flavor to them, they would also make great art all year round.

Or for the least expensive option, you can do what I do! I purchase seasonal scrapbook paper from Archivers or craft stores and simply frame it.

2. Throw pillows or stuffed animals

Soft Tree throw pillows ($35 and up) by Palomita on Etsy are an easy way to add Autumn to the nursery. Toss it on the floor, in the rocker or glider or even on a bookshelf or dresser.

This hedgehog print throw pillow ($39) by Earth Lab on Etsy comes in the colors I think of when I think of fall or Thanksgiving.

3. Embellish your nursery with seasonal garland, banners or bunting

This Felt Fall garland by Modern Simple Baby ($34.50) on Etsy would be a subtle touch. You could hang it on a wall shelf or even your curtain rods.

This Be Thankful Banner ($18) by Lulu and Jayne is simple and a good reminder for all of us. It would be great over a mirror or on any empty wall.

The Paper Circles Garland from The Path Less Traveled on Etsy ($8) is an easy addition to your nursery. The pom and paper lantern cluster craze in nursery design is the perfect place to add seasonal elements. String it through your cluster.

I’d love to know about your favorite ways to make your home change with the seasons.

UPPAbaby Mesa Car Seat Announcement

After spending many pregnant months researching strollers, we finally settled on the UPPAbaby VISTA ($699) for our son because of it’s sleek look, solid reviews including reviews stating that the company offers wonderful customer service, and the ability to add a jump seat if baby number two becomes a reality. It has been a great stroller for us, and as it can hold up to 50 pounds, it will work for us for years to come.

UPPAbaby recently debuted the MESA, their new infant car seat, at ABC Kids Expo 2012.

I love the clean modern look of the car seat and the new SMARTSECURE™ System is very appealing. According to UPPAbaby, “this unique technology utilizes a tightness indicator and self-retracting mini LATCH connectors to facilitate quick, accurate, and easy installation.”

It doesn’t require an adapter for the VISTA or CRUZ strollers, something you currently have to purchase regardless of which type of car seat you have.

A couple of features I love:

  • A hideaway SPF 50+canopy for sun protection.
  • Finished bottom to protect car upholstery which eliminates the need for seat protectors. Seat protectors can be a problem for safe car seat installation.
  • One-push stroller release on the carry handle for a smooth transfer.

The UPPAbaby MESA (http://uppababy.com/products/product.php?id=272 )will be available beginning in March 2013.  It will retail for $280 and come in four styles: DREW (tangerine), SEBBY (teal), LINDSEY (wheat), and JAKE (black).

Play Desserts by Djeco and More

When I first saw Djeco’s new box of wooden macaron’s ($22), I wanted to throw a pretend party with my little guy and his friends immediately. Macarons are hot in the event and food industries and would make such a fun addition to a make-believe party. Plus they are just so charming.

Here is a round-up of some very adorable and fun play desserts for the little ones.

1. Djeco Macarons
I fell in love with these new wooden Macarons ($22) by French company Djeco when I first spied them at Pacifier, a local boutique store here in Minneapolis. The package comes with six very sweet modern wooden macarons packaged in a cute box.

2. Djeco Wooden Pastry set
This pastry set ($15) by Djeco, is a perfect addition to any modern tea party.

3. Haba Petit Fours
Haba’s 9-piece box of soft Petit Fours ($14) is a sweet little treat for your son or daughter.

4. Melissa and Doug Sweet Treat Tower
While Melissa & Doug has many options when it comes to wooden desserts for children, this Sweet Treat Tower ($20.60)  takes the cake. The accompanying cake stand is simple, but perfect for your little aspiring host or hostess to practice dessert displaying.

5. Chocolate Ice Cream Bar
While Summer is behind us, I can’t help but call out summer treats. Yum! Etsy shop Arts of the Heart sells this chocolate ice cream bar ($3) as well as a few other fun frozen treats.

6. Ikea’s Duktig 18-piece dessert set
This very budget friendly dessert set by Ikea includes ice cream, cake with candles and cookies for just under $8.

7. Yellow Label Kid’s Knitted Cupcakes
While most other play food is for children 3 and up, this sweet set of four Fair Trade cupcakes ($29.95) in a fabric serving tray is for children 6 months and up and includes cupcake liners that peel down just like the real thing.
