We saw Jessica’s nursery board a few weeks ago, and today she’s giving us the grand tour of the completed space!
Planning our second nursery for our baby boy who is expected any day now was very different than the first time around. This time it was all about making the room practical, something he could grow into and something that was easy to keep clean and organized. I was really surprised at how quickly our older child needed a “big boy room” and was thankful that his room was easy to transition that way. While I love a few very babyish touches and subtle themes can be nice, they can definitely limit you when it comes time for your toddler to transition to a bigger bed and when it’s time to incorporate his or her interests.
I think I struck a nice balance between having a modern room that feels like it’s for a baby and a room that will grow with our son.
I’ve been inspired by a lot of the gorgeous black and white nurseries I’ve seen around lately, but knew that I wanted color this time around.
I found a few key pieces like the cloud garland and the pillows from Juniper Wilde and allowed myself the freedom to build the room simply using things I loved. I’m usually more of a planner than that, but this time, I think it worked out well.
The room is a peaceful, calming and serene space with some fun playful touches. I love the industrial and modern style pieces that we’ve incorporated and can’t wait to raise our son here.
I’m sharing some details about my inspiration and thoughts on the room process on my blog as well.
