Introducing New Brand: Nenu

There is an exciting new company entering the juvenile product market. Welcome, Nenu!

1nenuwelcome

Nenu creates thoughtful and simple products for you and your family. We like their clean aesthetic and modern color choices (Sky and Watermelon) that suit both boys and girls.

Founded by family friends seeking well-designed, safe, and functional products for their babies, Nenu set out to develop products completely designed, manufactured, sourced, and packaged in the USA.

Nenu Spoons and Teether Bugs are FDA-rated, medical-grade materials which are free of phthalates, latex, vinyl, and BPA products. The Spoon is not your ordinary baby spoon. The spoon depression is designed with a ramp so that the food collects in the front, decreasing changes of spills and messes.

It is simple for infant and toddler use.

Nenu was generous enough to send me samples of their new line, Spoon and Teether Bug, for my thoughts in person, so let’s take a look! I was immediately impressed by the sleek, modern packaging design and mature choice of colors. It’s often hard to find shades of red and blue that seem gender neutral, but they made excellent decisions on both, in my opinion. The Spring 2015 Catalog was fun to browse through for a glimpse inside the design process and to get a sneak peek at some new products (hopefully!) coming soon.

The Teether Bug makes helping a teething infant look easy. The flexible loop is easy to grasp with tiny fingers, and little bumps on each leg will help soothe baby’s sore gums. If you have more than one Teether Bug, they can be stacked and played with beyond the teething years. My three-year-old immediately grabbed it and set it off on bug-escue rescue missions.

The Spoon has little leg rests so that you can set it on the table if baby prefers to feed himself or if you want to prop the spoon on the edge of the plate without having it roll over. The narrow handle of the Spoon creates an easy finger-like size for infants and toddlers to grasp. As you can tell from the photo, the Spoon is not flexible like the Teether Bug. You can see my thumb applying pressure and there is no give. If you’ve ever given your infant a flexible spoon for use (food flinging all over), you know how much more helpful this firm design can be for eating and clean-up.

It’s not every day that a product line launches that impresses me so much in terms of design, function, packaging, and my scrutinizing in-person impressions, but Nenu has proven itself worthy of our strong recommendation. Also worthy of a mention is the fact that they donate to the charities Water for Life and No Kid Left Hungry to help provide children with food and water. I love supporting a generous company.

If you would like to try Nenu’s new Spoon and Teether Bug out for yourself or as a shower gift, they are offering BuyModernBaby readers a discount code for purchase until July 2 — this Thursday!
