Rachel from A Serene Life said her goal for her son Judah’s nursery was for it to be “modern and playful with a few vintage touches here and there.” I’m sure you’ll agree she accomplished just that.
She explains, “Kid’s rooms are a great excuse to unleash your inner child and decorate with things you may not be able to get away with in the rest of your house.” I completely agree– that’s why it’s so much fun to do!
The orange, green, brown and light blue color scheme is unexpected but looks fantastic! I love how the colors look cohesive, but any other color goes in the room as well because the pillow on the chair ties them all together. Kids tend to have lots of colorful books and toys so why not embrace the rainbow!
The dresser/changer (Baby Mod Olivia) has a fun circle design detail that you’ll see carried on throughout the room like with the orange paper globes.
The chair and ottoman were found at Kohls, and positioned next to the bookcase, they are a perfect place to sit and read.
The crib is an Olivia Crib by Baby Mod, and is an excellent choice for $300.
Rachel’s crafty/creative side came out in the hoop design on the wall over the crib and she even make the mobile herself! I love the beautiful (scrapbook) papers she chose to complement the color scheme, and look closely to see the unique button detail in each pinwheel.
The little Ikea bookcase is a great storage and display opportunity. You can’t go wrong with an Expedit!
I love this wall arrangement with the orange (round) clock on the light blue wall.
Here you can see many of the little details that use the circle motif throughout the room. Rachel added the ball trim to the lamp shade and that great light fixture?… a shade clipped over the existing bulb!
I love how Rachel explains, “I look forward to watching Judah grow up in the room that mommy designed with love, just for him” –because isn’t that what nursery design is all about?!
You can see more of this lovely nursery on Rachel’s blog A Serene Life, and be sure to leave a comment to let her know what you love most about this wonderful space. She can also be found at Des Moines Wedding Savvy (I LOVE the Honeysuckle wedding mood board!) and The Wonder Woman Diaries!
Rachel, thank you so much for sharing these photos of your nursery. I’m sure people will be inspired by what you did with the room.
