shopping guide: bird birds chicken flamingo parrot plush plushie puffin rooster stuffed

January 5th is National Bird Day, which reminded me of the awesome bird plushies I was admiring at Ikea last week.
Part of the ÖNSKAD collection, this colorful Rooster for $4 will be their partner in playing farm.
The pink Flamingo is a Florida favorite so I may have to snag one for $7 on my next Ikea run.
This “clown of the sea”, the Puffin, makes an adorable friend for $5.
And finally, the Parrot is a beautifully detailed soft toy for $5.
These are some of the most lovely stuffed animals I’ve seen at Ikea and I was truly tempted to grab them all.
Also this National Bird Day, help preserve bird habitats and consider donating to the National Audubon Society.
While Sleepy King has been known for her felt foxes, bunnies and plush owls, I’m excited to see the new style she’s been working on. These plush cat and rabbit heads are embroidered on organic linen and are absolutely gorgeous. The pieces sell out quickly but can be made to order.
This Jackalope embroidery is another perfectly embroidered treasure.
If the piece you like is gone, please just contact Savannah and I’m sure she’ll be happy to make more!
There was a time when my grandmother would tell my sister and I the story of Little Red Riding Hood every night. We made story time more varied by asking her to change the color of the hood, but I admit red is my favorite anyway.

Set of Four Little Red Riding Hood Mini Pillows from titiluli- $40
I keep up with my favorite TV shows on Hulu while I work at the computer, and every so often I spot some of our favorite things in my favorite shows. Last week’s episode of Modern Family featured some Deglingos (quirky plush toys) quite prominently.
I also spotted a print of Monsieur Hulot Mon Oncle by Matte Stephens in an upstairs hallway.
Anyone else a Modern Family fan?

The winter holidays are a perfect time to indulge a little and snuggle up with some cozy alpaca knit plushies from Oeuf. These are just a few options that will be treasured gifts for babies and kids of any age.
rich or reasonable: giraffe nursery decor stuffed toys

If your nursery or playroom requires a giant stuffed giraffe– and you may be surprised how often this is the case– I’ve got a couple options for you. Unless you’re a serious Stieff collector and aficionado (I’m just a casual collector and fan), this one is a no-brainer though.
You don’t have to take my word for it. Even celebrity nurseries are sporting Melissa & Doug’s Giant Stuffed Giraffe.
You can find it in Tori Spelling’s home…

And Rachel Zoe’s home…
So you can either be the trailblazer with the $1175 Giraffe from Steiff (43.31″ tall), or snag the Melissa and Doug one (57″ tall) on Amazon for less than $100. (at the time of posting, the price is $72.09!!)

It’s the third Monday of February so you know what that means- both my kids are home from school!- because it’s Presidents’ Day. Originally created to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, we now use the day to celebrate all U.S. presidents.
Celebrate your future world leaders with these tributes to past great presidents with these plush dolls from Late Greats.
Happy Presidents’ Day!
If you’re at all familiar with the modern baby product world, you are familiar with or even own at least one blabla knit doll. Pierre the Bunny hangs around in my little one’s room and he’s as soft and deliciously cuddly as you could hope a plush toy to be.
Now blabla has introduced a collection of cloth dolls representing many of the same characters.
They have Beauregard the Wolf, Wooly the Sheep, Fleur the Bunny, Pierre the Bunny, Socks the Fox and Suzette the Fox, all done in a printed cloth.
They retail for $34 each (vs. $44-$56 for the mini and regular knit dolls).
