Some companies make beautiful furniture for kids. Some make their beautiful furniture smaller for kids. Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams (one of my favorites for grown-up furniture) have a collection of mini chairs sized just for kids. This is for when you really want the kids’ furniture to blend in with the decor.
Clockwise from the left we have the Luc Kids Chair ($595), Lil’ Alexa Kids Chair ($575), and Mini Sadie ($445). The chairs in the photo can be ordered online as shown. You can also special order the chairs to your own specifications or in leather through a Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams retailer.
Monte Design is a Buy Modern Baby staple. Their rockers and gliders are the benchmark for modern nursery seating and their bassinet, high chair and new twin bed are equally beautiful, simple and well-crafted. While those should all be on your nursery wish lists, your gift list this year might include Monte’s Cubino Chair and/or Loveseat. Cubino is the kids chair that is perfectly at home in the living room as well as any nursery, bedroom, playroom or family room.
Monte Design is graciously offering Buy Modern Baby readers a chance to win a Cubino Chair ($109) in the colors of their choice. These kid sized chairs (recommended from 18 months to 7 years) are made of thick, durable foam and are covered in soft micro suede. Cubinos come in eight color combinations: Charcoal with Orange, Green, Blue or Pink and Brown with Orange, Green, Blue or Pink.

These two gliders from Little Castle are their most sleek, modern new styles. These aren’t super inexpensive (the old model that I like, Monaco, is just under $700), but these simple designs will last a long time as they go from nursery to your own bedroom or den with ease.
Babyletto‘s new glider, the Madison Glider Rocker should be available in February 2012 and will retail for about $350.
I found these two seats at Newco. It seems that Jennifer Delonge has partnered with Newco to get these to you for less than $800. The one on the right is the Grand Glider for $800. It looks so much better in my photo than online. Not that my photos are good, but it does go to show that good photography makes all the difference (or at least that bad images are VERY bad).
I’ll add these gliders to BuyModernSeating as soon as they become available.
To me, having closely watched the industry over the past 6+ years, bloom is one of the brands that I consider to be pioneers in the modern baby arena. With benchmarks like the Coco lounger in their product line, I’m always looking to bloom to find the coolest, most beautiful and innovative products.
The focus this year was on bloom’s stroller…
I think I’m developing a phobia of strollers, which I’ll talk about later, so I walked right by that and focused on what else there was to see. The first thing I couldn’t help but notice was these little chairs that turn over to be tables. They’re adorable.
The next thing that jumped out at me was the new colors for the Coco lounger. They’ve got red and whitewash for the frames, and new khaki and denim seat fabrics.
The denim fabric is shown on here on the Fresco high chair. I think it just looks totally cool.
I also thought it was interesting that bloom will be coming out with its own bedding. I think that any time a company sells a non-traditional sized crib, it’s worth their while to sell bedding to go with it.
And since I mentioned atypical sized cribs, bloom had the Alma Max on display, which is a full sized version of the Alma Papa.
We should be seeing the new bloom items in the first part of 2012.
Originating in Spain, as much of the most original design these days does, Babyhome is exploding onto the US market with a a well-rounded collection of simple, stylish and colorful baby gear.
In the photo above, you can see their SweetKit, which is a bouncer that transforms into a high chair. Talk about multi-tasking! Behind the SweetKits you can see Side, which is the most stylish bed rail (other than those that are designed as part of a bed) that I’ve ever seen.
My favorite Babyhome item is the Dream travel cot. This reminds me of the baby clic I saw last year (also from Spain), but that one was never brought to the US. This type of travel bed makes for a great mini crib or bassinet.
The Eat high chair is a super lightweight chair with an aluminum frame and removable, washable cover. The chair also folds flat for storage.
The Onfour baby seat is unique because the wheels allow the chair to me moved easily without being lifted. The Onfour is also super light and can fold flat.
Finally, Babyhome’s stroller is Emotion— an affordable, full featured, lightweight stroller.
All the products should be available January. They all come in Orange, Red, Lime, Black, Sand, Purple, Navy and Brown, so you can have an entire rainbow of gear or get everything to match.
From time to time I browse what Costco.com is offering in their nursery furniture department. Usually there is nothing to share but I spied a little beauty today!
This Newco Luxe Glider with X-ottoman is just $800 including shipping. In one of three neutral colors, Ivory, Coffee and Chocolate, this could be the perfect glider for your nursery.
If this Luxe Glider with X Ottoman design looks familiar to you, you can find it on Jennifer Delonge’s website- though it’s shown with some fancier fabrics and the dimensions have been changed a bit.
The original Jennifer Delonge Luxe Glider (shown below) has a skirted base and gliding skirted ottoman. You can find this style starting at $990.
Rapson Inc., who is now selling the iconic Rapson rocker, now has the Rapson Greenbelt™ Rocker and Highback Rapson Greenbelt™ Rocker in addition to the Rapson™ Bentwood Rocker. If you want to invest in a rocker that will last a lifetime, these (expensive) beauties are worthy of your consideration.
I usually only post products that are available for purchase or that will be coming soon, so this post is a little different. I have been hearing about Kickstarter here and there online, and when I got an email about this Little Frog Kickstarter project, I was excited to take a look.
Chadwick Parker and Joe Huang are trying to raise $40,000 to bring you these cute and fun 3-in-1 Little Frog play tables/chairs.
The video really goes into all the details…

As you can see, these are really cute (my 5 year old said so!) and totally fun. Your kickstarter “pledges” are almost like product pre-orders. For example, a $100 pledge reserves 2 monster toys and a 3-in-1 Little Frog in any of the five colors– red, yellow, green, blue and purple.
So help kick start the 3-in-1 Little Frog and be among the first to have this versatile, creative and fun piece of kids furniture. Visit Kickstarter for all the details and to make your pledge. Good luck guys!
