I fell in love with Nuna’s Leaf bouncer when I first spotted it on Babyology in 2010, but I didn’t share it with you because as you know, we only talk about things that are easily available in the US. When I recently learned that the incredibly stylish brand is entering the US market, I couldn’t wait to let you know, because that’s big news in my world!
Nuna’s sleek, ultramodern products from The Netherlands made their debut at ABC Kids Expo 2012, and will hit our shores January 2013. You’ll be able to preorder the first three products shortly.
The first of the three products that will be available early next year is the Leaf bouncer. Retailing for $229, this beautiful bouncer gently rocks baby to sleep for more than two minutes after just a single push without the use of any electrical power.
It will be available in the three colors shown above. They had an adult version at the show so I can attest to how comfortable and soothing the Leaf is.
This will be going on our baby seating guide for sure.
Nuna will also be bringing their Sena Portable crib to the US. It is available in Safari and Navy and in a regular ($220) and mini ($160) size. The Sena features a one-hand fold and can fold with the bassinet insert in place.
The last product coming in January is the Zaaz high chair that grows with your child. It will retail for $260.
Later in the year we can look forward to Nuna’s Pepp stroller as well as their Pipa infant seat and we’ll keep you up to date on that news.
This debut was definitely one of the highlights of the Expo for me this year.
The new Wary Meyers Kids Shop has a vintage Creative Playthings Rocking Beauty Hobby Horse (from 1964) for a mere $1200.
If the vintage version is too pricey, I DID find the modern remake (called the Red Ball Rocker) still listed at Genius Jones for $265. It is no longer being made by Knu however, so this may just be some stock that they have left over. I’d call and check if they still have it before I put in my order.
For more information about the history of this modernist rocking horse, read Greg’s post on daddytypes.
Even if you’re not in the market for a vintage Rocking Beauty, you’re going to want to bookmark the Mary Meyers new kids shop as it is sure to have all kinds of wonderful vintage treasures. I was tickled to find Robie among their offerings. We’ve got one of these mechanical banks in my son’s room!
Right now they also have a couple of Cosco modern plastic chairs (green and white).
And I’m trying to figure out where I could put this incredible Big Bird poster!
In case any of you have started to think that babies get the coolest stuff, I’ll be looking for more grownup versions that we can enjoy as well.
If you love Bloom’s Coco Baby Lounger, how about a Monopola Chair? And now I think Bloom should add a metallic base to their collection of Coco loungers (as if the wood and acrylic aren’t cool enough).
I know you feel the warm weather coming (well, at least those of you in the northern hemisphere!). Here in Florida the winter switched off and as usual, we jumped right into summer. For us this means that we’ve already started visiting the neighborhood pool after school and I’ve even been thinking about taking the kids to the beach one of these days. I know it may sound crazy, but those of us who live in Florida find the weather to be too cold to go to the beach in the winter, so we wait until spring and summer. I’ve been browsing online for some items to make a family beach trip more fun and family friendly, and was impressed with the cute beach items from giggle!
I just need the full set with two chairs and we’d be ready to go!
1- Beach Paddles– $15
2- Beach Sounds– $40
3- Candy Striped Sun Hat– $18
4- Babiator Sunglasses– $25
5- Kids’ Beach Seat– $30
And if you’re going to spend the day out at the beach– take this from a Florida girl– you’re going to need the proper sun protection. Our kids wear rash guards whenever they are out swimming or in the sprinklers. The boys around here are so accustomed to wearing SPF swim shirts that they even wear them when swimming indoors just because they’re used to it. Fortunately you can find and buy these anywhere, for both boys and girls. But no matter how covered up they are, you shouldn’t leave the house until you apply a liberal amount of a non-chemical sunscreen.
A few great ones that I’d recommend are…
1- Badger Baby Sunscreen SPF 30+ Certified Natural (2.9 oz.)– $16
2- thinkbaby sunscreen SPF30+ benefiting LIVESTRONG, 3 ounces– $16
3- Episencial Sunny Sunscreen SPF 35, 4-Ounce– $15
4- California Baby SPF 30 + Sunscreen Lotion – Super Sensitive, 2.9 oz– $18
My kids judge these on how they smell. Just because they may have no fragrance added, doesn’t mean there is no smell associated with the products. My youngest likes the smell of the Badger best and my oldest only likes California Baby.
There are other nice brands and I trust SafeMama.com to guide me in the right direction. If you’re looking for more options, take a look at her Sunscreen Cheat Sheet. You can also study EWG’s Skin Deep list of Best Beach and Sport Sunscreens. Let me know if you have any safe sunscreen favorites!
Loll was one of the first brands I blogged about. Their furniture is as beautiful indoors as it is outdoors. Made from recycled materials, their make your environment beautiful while they are protecting it. Loll is keeping it fresh with a few new kids designs.
First these Kids Cabrio Lounge Chairs are adorable. They’re the mini versions of the popular adult sized seat. $228
The Kids Cricket Chairs ($200) are perfect with the new Kids Play Table ($460).
Finally, Design Within Reach’s Go Club Chair is now available in child size Kids Go Club as well! ($280)
Makes we want to completely rethink our backyard!
Since I know you’re going to ask about the red playhouse at the top, I’m not sure. It’s like Modern Playhouse’s Dacha Playhouse crossed with their Circle Playhouse. It makes sense for Loll and Modern Playhouse to work together, but I just haven’t found anything official (other than the colors and the fact that Modern Playhouse likes Loll on Facebook).
I was excited about these new gliders when I saw them at ABC Kids last year so I’m thrilled to share that they’re available to order now!
The Oxford Glider and Myles Glider feature higher backs than DwellStudios original two gliders. The high backs, and in particular the wing back, are great for resting your sleepy head in the middle of the night. They are available in fourteen different fabric options from $1200 to $1350.
These are great additions to the DwellStudio nursery furniture collection.
There are a few new things for you from P’kolino.
The one I find most interesting is the Chalkboard Bookshelf for $120. It is also available in fushia and cobalt and will be out in May. This is a great little front-facing bookshelf that would be great storage in a modern child’s room or playroom.
The new fuchsia and cobalt colors are offered on P’kolino’s Little One’s Table and Chairs, the new Little One’s Art Easel, the new Tabletop Art Easel and Kube storage and drawers.
The Little Reader chairs have been updated, and starting in May, will be available in blue, green, orange, purple and red. They will retail for $80.
The little sleeper sofas have been updated as well.
P’kolino has also expanded on their Britto art collection and their classic art collection. I especially love the little art packs. These would make amazing gifts. The Artist Journals are $15, the Artist Sets are $25 and the Artist Travel Sets are $35. They all come in Monkey, Robot, Tias and Bug designs.
Finally, I think the Playful Xylophone will be very popular. It stacks and makes music for $30.
Some of the new items are available now and you can pre-order the rest for their May release.
Is anything going on your shopping list? How do you like the fuchsia and cobalt?
These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week. Lots of great stuff!
First, I’m sure you’ve seen this nursery. Love it. Have loved it for years. Well, guess what? The little girl who lived here, grew up, got a big girl bed and a baby brother
… and little brother has moved in and had the place redecorated. Take a peek at the tranformation of Paige’s nursery into Noah’s Nautical Nest on hellobee.
You KNOW I’ve been waiting for Modern Playhouse to come up with an outdoor design. Well, Gabrielle Blair got the heads up on this one and posted Modern Playhouse’s new Dacha Playhouse (coming February 15th!) on Babble’s Family Style. It’s made of 100% post consumer recycled plastic too! We so need one of these.
Mari of Small for Big says, “You need a little neon in your life,” and I believe her. I love the neon creations she shares from Sketch.Inc.
When I first saw pictures of the fold-flat Flux Chair, I started seriously considering these as extra dining seating in the house. I’d still love to have about a half a dozen of them, but now I’ll have to add a few Flux Junior Chairs to the wish list as well. Thanks to Bambino Goodies for the information.
Finally, Kid Crave put together a super fun and really useful Essential Guide to Raising A Hipster. Perfect!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Don’t forget to enter our Wallfry nursery art print giveaway as we’ll be picking the winner on Monday!
