Bright New Toys from Petit Collage

The latest new items from Petit Collage are more colorful and more fun than ever. Among my favorite new toys are the Musical Jumbo wooden xylophone ($24).

The Rock + Roll Alligator ($32) is Petit Collage’s unique take on a shape sorter which doubles as a pull toy.

Animal Town wooden blocks are a beautiful playtime basic ($35).

And finally, I recommend the Day + Night 2-in-1 double sided chunky puzzle ($20).

You can shop for all my picks and the rest of the new Petit Collage items on their website.

Stackers and Puzzles from Manny & Simon

Known for push toys and teethers, Manny & Simon is expanding their wooden wonderfulness to include more playtime classics.

With two traditional stackers, the Ring Stacker and the Shape Stacker ($24 each), babies experiment with colors and shapes while exercising their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

In addition to stackers, there are a few new puzzles to consider for your toy box. Fred and Frida Robot Puzzles have pieces printed on the front and with a chalkboard back. After toddlers have mastered the puzzles, they can get creative and design their own robots! ($30 each)

Wooden Animal Puzzles (high, medium and low)

You can never have too many puzzles.  The modern wooden animal puzzles I’m sharing today double as animal figurines as well.   From the reasonable to the collectible, this is just the type of classic toy that has loads of play value.  They’re also easy to admire for their artistic and sculptural qualities.  Be sure to add one to your (I mean your little one’s) wishlist.

The first puzzle is Petit Collage’s brand new Safari Jumble wood puzzle.  For $32 you get nine wooden animals hand-cut from FSC-certified beech wood with a wooden storage tray.

From Woodroid, we have this set of 7 organic wooden animals for $58.  The Organic Wooden Animal Puzzle is made in the Ukraine out of maple and fits into a maple/oak tray.

Finally, Enzo Mari’s 16 Animali Wooden Puzzle is a design classic.  The puzzle, currently produced using oak, is a limited numbered edition (only 300 made per year) with a price tag to match.  The set with the box is $820.  This often imitated design will never go out of style and is really art you can play with.

Check ebay for these if you’re interested in collecting one, but be sure to do a little research to make sure your purchase is authentic.
