The Land of Nod Holiday Gifts Preview

I’m pretty sure that I say this every year, but if you had to choose just one store for your holiday gift shopping, The Land of Nod would be the one to pick. They assemble the best collection of beautiful, unique gifts that stand the test of time. They also work with makers and designers to develop exclusive products for the season. But I’ll quit talking about them and just show you a selection of my favorites.

First, there’s a number of fun playhouses.

The Gearhead Garage Playhouse is too fun. The Gas Pump and Speedster Sit-On are sold separately. I also like the idea of getting their Speedster Racer and/or the Fire Engine Speedster with the garage.

The canopy playhouses are great because they add a lot of whimsy but don’t take up a lot of floor space. The new styles include the Skyhouse Playhouse Canopy, London Calling Playhouse Canopy and Woodsy Playhouse Canopy.

The Misha Lulu designed Log Cabin Playhouse is a super one that can be accessorized with Felt Stepping Stones and Leaf Welcome Mat.

There’s one other crazy new playhouse, the Monster Playhouse, but it’s a little weird for my taste so I could bring myself to post a photo of it.

In a world saturated with play teepes, the new Dip Dye Denim Teepee is a unique version worthy of note. Denim style canvas + ombre is a really cool look and the floor cushion they have to go with it is pretty as well.

If the full play tents take up too much space or if you prefer something more temporary, I love Suzy Ultman’s Hanging Around Hallway Playhouse that just hangs in a doorway or hall and included the welcome may.

Gingiber has created three unique versions of the Executive Nod Chair– Sheep, Bunny and Fox. They are like favorite stuffed animals that you can sit on.

Another soft, plush place to hang out and play is the Day Trip Plush Canoe that is part of the Camp Wandawega collection.

And if you like giant plush toys and don’t want the teddy bear from Costco, the Giant Simon Sit On or the Paleo Plush might be more your style.

You may know I have a thing about rocking horses, and the Thoroughbred Rocking Horse designed by Adam Greber is a new favorite of mine.

I love how the What’s That Stand For can transform into a great number of places for pretend play. It comes with curtains, banners and theater, produce, ice cream, drive thru and bank signs as well as a chalkboard/whiteboard sign so the kids can add anything else their imaginations come up with. This might be my #1 top must-have pick for holiday gifts.

The Future Foodie Play Kitchen Sink, Fridge and Oven form my new favorite play kitchen items. When did my kids get too big for toys like this? Oh, so unfair.

Now we did have a nice wooden workbench when the boys were little, but this If I Had a Hammer (and a Workbench) looks even cooler. With so many black and white kids rooms, this one fits right in.

My final new toy pick from The Land of Nod for the holidays is the Modular Dollhouse. It is compact, can be arranged in different combinations and best of all, comes with the furniture and dolls.

I’ll just say this, I’m a little envious of all the kids getting The Land of Nod goodies for the holidays this year. I wouldn’t be mad if you tag me in your holiday Instagram photos to show off.

Cotton On Kids Online for the US

Cotton On Kids is one of those fun Australian brands that I just admire on Instagram, but with their US shop online now, we can enjoy a selection of their colorful children’s textiles.

For kids rooms you can choose their pillow cases, twin sheets and cushions with prices ranging from $20 to $25.

Also worthy of mention from North Forty Design is the Framehouse.  This open structure is made of FSC White Oak and can be used in any number of ways.

Camper Play Tent and More New Tents from The Land of Nod

I want this and I want my kids to want this and I want to have a place to keep it.  Obviously, I love the new Jetaire Camper Play Tent from The Land of Nod.  $200

Paired with the The Smore the Merrier Campfire Set ($70), I can’t think of a lovelier pretend play environment.  You’ve got indoor camping any day or night, regardless of the weather!

The Land of Nod Camping Set

If the camping scene is too elaborate, these other new tents from The Land of Nod could be an equally exciting addition to your child’s play area.  With two new teepees, three new pup tents and two shiny new canopy tents, there are going to be lots of happy children with picture perfect playrooms out there this holiday season!

Uptown Espresso Kitchen from KidKraft

I adore play kitchens.  Ohdeedoh has an incredible play kitchen series so I don’t generally post about them myself.  There are so many great and creative kitchen play sets to buy or make yourself.  I’m not the handiest person and I don’t have tons of time for crafty projects so I’m not going to make one (that’s why the site is BUY modern baby).  In looking at the options available to purchase, I’ve never found anything that was quite right until now.  I finally found the one that would work in our home!  Coming soon from KidKraft, the Uptown Espresso Kitchen is just what I’ve been looking for!

From what I can tell, it will retail for $180 so it would be a perfect as a holiday gift– especially shared between my two boys.

See how perfectly it would fit in our home?  Here’s a photo of our kitchen the night it was finished.  We redid the entire kitchen 2 years ago- keeping the layout the same as the original.  The kitchen overlooks the family room.

Now that I think about it, I actually did make a play kitchen once when my oldest was very little…

It went into the recycling bin when we moved 🙂
