Playhouses Galore with Antsy Pants

There are hundreds of wonderful tent and playhouse styles for kids and we’ve shared many of my favorites in the past, but now Target has a clever system of buildable play spaces from Antsy Pants.

The system starts with a set of poles and connectors. The sets are available in small, medium and large sizes. The small size shown below is used to create a shop like the Donut Shop or Farmers Market.

The medium set is perfect for tents, playhouses and castles, while the large set can be used for even more complex designs like the ice cream truck or pirate ship as well!

With the addition of fabric covers, the building sets can transform into any number of fun play areas like this circus tent

the amazing pirate ship

or this adorable lemonade stand.

There’s even a convenient storage container to contain all the pieces.

The Antsy Pants system is exclusively available at Target and you may want to get all the pieces you like sooner than later because you can never be sure how long they will carry this uniquely wonderful collection.

Marimekko Play Tents at Target

The Marimekko for Target collection has been out for a few days now but there’s still plenty of stock online and in stores. Yesterday I grabbed a black and white beach tote. I love the XL size for towels and it has multiple pockets for sunscreen and snacks. For your modern tots however, I have to point you to the play tents. After the paddleboard and bicycle, these are the most expensive items in the collection ($120), but they come in great prints and are so great used in this fun way.

This Play Tent in the Lokki Print coordinates with the other blue prints in the collection. It’s a beachy look that’s perfect for both patio and playroom.

The Teepee in the Koppelo Print is my favorite in black and white. This would be beautifully at home in so many of your modern kids spaces!

The bravest among you will choose this bright and cheerful tent in the Auringonkukka (Finnish for “sunflower”) print.

All the tents feature a bamboo frame and polyester outdoor fabric. You can order the tents online and they are in stores for a limited time.

Kidkraft’s Modern Outdoor Playhouse

Spring has sprung and although we happen to be experiencing some unseasonably cold temperatures here in South Florida today, it would still be the perfect day to send the kids out to enjoy some time in their KidKraft Modern Outdoor Playhouse. While there are many amazing modern styles floating around the web, most of the cool ones are DIY jobs and not all of us are quite that handy. This is the way to get that great modern style with an accessible brand at a reasonable price.

KidKraft Modern Outdoor Espresso Playhouse front

The playhouse features an attached picnic table for two, a mailbox with a flag and an outdoor grill (aka: the drive-thru window!).

While it retails for $430, you should be able to find the Honey colored version for about $360. I like the espresso finish even more but I can’t find it for sale online right now. I’d also consider getting a deal on the honey finish and painting it to match the house! That level of DIY is something I could handle.

Keep in mind that you DO have to be handy enough to assemble the house. If you’re up for even more of a challenge, check out our Pinterest board of Outdoor Playhouses.

The Land of Nod Holiday Gifts Preview

I’m pretty sure that I say this every year, but if you had to choose just one store for your holiday gift shopping, The Land of Nod would be the one to pick. They assemble the best collection of beautiful, unique gifts that stand the test of time. They also work with makers and designers to develop exclusive products for the season. But I’ll quit talking about them and just show you a selection of my favorites.

First, there’s a number of fun playhouses.

The Gearhead Garage Playhouse is too fun. The Gas Pump and Speedster Sit-On are sold separately. I also like the idea of getting their Speedster Racer and/or the Fire Engine Speedster with the garage.

gearhead-garage-playhouse

The canopy playhouses are great because they add a lot of whimsy but don’t take up a lot of floor space. The new styles include the Skyhouse Playhouse Canopy, London Calling Playhouse Canopy and Woodsy Playhouse Canopy.

The Misha Lulu designed Log Cabin Playhouse is a super one that can be accessorized with Felt Stepping Stones and Leaf Welcome Mat.

log-cabin-playhouse

There’s one other crazy new playhouse, the Monster Playhouse, but it’s a little weird for my taste so I could bring myself to post a photo of it.

In a world saturated with play teepes, the new Dip Dye Denim Teepee is a unique version worthy of note. Denim style canvas + ombre is a really cool look and the floor cushion they have to go with it is pretty as well.

If the full play tents take up too much space or if you prefer something more temporary, I love Suzy Ultman’s Hanging Around Hallway Playhouse that just hangs in a doorway or hall and included the welcome may.

hanging-around-hallway-playhouse

Gingiber has created three unique versions of the Executive Nod Chair– Sheep, Bunny and Fox. They are like favorite stuffed animals that you can sit on.

Gingiber Furry Animal Nod Chair

Another soft, plush place to hang out and play is the Day Trip Plush Canoe that is part of the Camp Wandawega collection.

And if you like giant plush toys and don’t want the teddy bear from Costco, the Giant Simon Sit On or the Paleo Plush might be more your style.

You may know I have a thing about rocking horses, and the Thoroughbred Rocking Horse designed by Adam Greber is a new favorite of mine.

I love how the What’s That Stand For can transform into a great number of places for pretend play. It comes with curtains, banners and theater, produce, ice cream, drive thru and bank signs as well as a chalkboard/whiteboard sign so the kids can add anything else their imaginations come up with. This might be my #1 top must-have pick for holiday gifts.

whats-that-stand-for

The Future Foodie Play Kitchen Sink, Fridge and Oven form my new favorite play kitchen items. When did my kids get too big for toys like this? Oh, so unfair.

future-foodie-play-kitchen-sink

Now we did have a nice wooden workbench when the boys were little, but this If I Had a Hammer (and a Workbench) looks even cooler. With so many black and white kids rooms, this one fits right in.

if-i-had-a-hammer-and-a-workbench

My final new toy pick from The Land of Nod for the holidays is the Modular Dollhouse. It is compact, can be arranged in different combinations and best of all, comes with the furniture and dolls.

I’ll just say this, I’m a little envious of all the kids getting The Land of Nod goodies for the holidays this year. I wouldn’t be mad if you tag me in your holiday Instagram photos to show off.

Play Tents from Joyjoie

In a world full of teepee style play tents, these designs from Joyjoie stand out with their bold and fun designs.

My favorites are the ones with the woods build right in!

And then the peeking animals are really dramatic.

Cotton On Kids Online for the US

Cotton On Kids is one of those fun Australian brands that I just admire on Instagram, but with their US shop online now, we can enjoy a selection of their colorful children’s textiles.

For kids rooms you can choose their pillow cases, twin sheets and cushions with prices ranging from $20 to $25.
