New Sponsor Welcome

It’s my day to remove all the Halloween decorations and pack them away for the year, so that means it’s the first day of November! This November 1st, I’m thrilled to introduce you to four new blog advertisers.  I’m happy to place their lovely ads in my sidebar so that you all have a chance to visit their sites and I am grateful for their support.

We recently let you know about Numi Numi Design’s launch, and now we’re glad to be working with them to make sure that fans of modern nursery design are aware of this new brand. We hope you’ve all had a chance to see what Numi Numi Design is all about.

I’m always happy to work with Canadian companies as my readers in Canada are some of my most active and responsive fans.  Mini Bulles is a Canadian boutique with a beautiful collection of items for children and the nursery, but all my readers should take note of their collections because they ship to the US and internationally.  Get access to brands like Les Triplettes and Mimilou.  Be sure to browse this shop before the holidays to find really unique gifts.

This month I’m also happy to welcome two etsy shops to our sidebar.  They are two shops I had never come across in my browsing, but I’m happy to share them with you and encourage you to browse their products.

First, Cecil & Clyde has a fun and charming collection of pillows for the modern nursery.  My favorites are the Sun and Cloud pillows shown below, and I also love the Moon, Stars and Night Sky and lots of the animals.  Browse the shop to see if any of them would work for your little one’s room.

Mod Clay is another etsy shop with decor options for your nursery.  These vintage style ceramic banks, lanterns, planters and figurines would make special gifts for any child’s space.

Thanks to all our advertisers for their support!  If you have a product or shop that would fit on this blog, please email us about advertising opportunities-

Cool New Stuff from Ferm Living (Fall/Winter 2012)

Ferm Living Fall/Winter 2012 collection will be shipping any day now and there’s lots of really cool new stuff this season.  I’ve been busy pinning some of this stuff already, but now it’s time to shop!

The Face Boxes are stylish plywood storage containers.  They are available painted (as shown below) or natural ($310).

New whales include a Music Mobile (shown left- $46), Cushion (shown right- $69) and a Mobile (not shown- $57).

I’m crazy about the Cloud, Lightning, Star and Raindrops Pillows ($45 each).

With Ferm Living, don’t forget to browse their adult collections to find possibilities for your children’s areas as well.

These Mr. and Mrs. Pillows ($100) also come in poster form ($39).

These neon cushions are so trendy, it hurts.  Dots, stripes, triangles and herringbone and $100 each.

Just take a look at the entire collection and pick something to incorporate into your home this season!

They Posted These So I Don’t Have To

It’s been a long while since I’ve done a Friday link love post.  Over the summer I had a lot of trouble keeping up with all the blogs that I love to follow, but my kids started back to school this week so I’m trying to get into the swing of things.  Please let me know in the comments if the links are something you’d like me to continue to share on a weekly basis.

So here are my top 5 picks from this past week…

I couldn’t help but be inspired by this glitz & glam boy nursery that was featured on Chic & Cheap Nursery.  The room would be nothing without the fabric panels and it’s something to keep in mind if you want to take a ordinary room and elevate to an amazing level.

I’m crazy about this little red riding hood matryoshka concept on Small for Big.  As soon as I find this is for sale, I’m going to have to get it.

I always look forward to Ferm Living’s new items and Bambino Goodies previewed their newest wall lamps.  The mushroom and cloud will join the deer, car, house and tree.  I’ll let you know which items from the new collection make it to the US.

There have been some wonderful designer stroller partnerships that I’ve loved, and there have been many ridiculous partnerships that have flopped.  Growing Your Baby presented the New Quinny Maxi-Cosi by Britto Collection and I’m pretty sure I know which camp this will fall in.  Tell me what YOU think though.

If you’re looking for more Britto check out the Britto Arts & Crafts collection from P’kolino.  I think that collaboration makes a bit more sense.

Finally, I love these Pillows for Kids by Ana Ventura on Handmade Charlotte.

If you want more of my internet finds through the week, follow me on Pinterest.  Have a great weekend!

Rich or Reasonable: Pico Pillows from Areaware or Laura Frisk Pillows

I was admiring the block printed animal pillows by Laura Frisk on etsy.  Her woodblock printed plush animal pillows are charming, fun and would go well in many-a-nursery. (Woodland Creatures Collection shown below)

As I looked at all the designs I was reminded of one of my favorite sources of animal pillows– the Fauna Pillows by Ross Menuez.  His photographic images are quite different from the block printed ones, but on a budget, Laura Frisk’s designs could be used for similar impact!

Fox Pico or Plush Fox Pillow in Yellow
Elephant Mini Cushion or Plush Elephant Pillow
Tabby Cat Mini Cushion or Orange Tabby Cat Throw Pillow

“Chicest Pillows For Modern Nurseries” 2012 Cribsie Finalists

The finalists have been selected for this year’s Cribsie Awards and voting began this week.  From now until March 16th, you can enter your votes for the best products and websites for babies, tots and their parents.  There are a few categories that fall under my areas of expertise, so over the next few weeks, I’ll be introducing you to (or reminding you of) the finalists in my favorite categories.  To be part of the informed electorate, get to know the candidates before you place your Cribsies votes.

First, in the Nursery category, we have the “Chicest Pillows For Modern Nurseries.”  I have previously blogged about all of these pillows or used them in nursery boards over the years so I’m a fan of them all.  Here are the five finalists:

Ferm Living is based in Denmark and has a gorgeous line of home decor and accessories for both adults and kids.  Note that even their grown-up pillows are fun enough to be used in kid spaces, but take a look at their chic kids pillows.

Oilo was a finalist in the 2011 Cribsies in the “Statement Crib Bedding Worth the Splurge” category and it’s no surprise that their coordinating pillows made it to the finals this year.  A favorite of celebrities (Christina Applegate and Rachel Zoe), Oilo’s chic, modern designs are perfect in clean, simple, and serene nursery designs.

Jonathan Adler designs are the opposite of simple and serene.  A little mod, a little retro, a little irreverent and totally funky, Jonathan Adler’s designs are completely chic.  His Johnathan Adler Junior collection is designed specifically for kids, but lots of the regular pillows are fun and colorful for nurseries as well.

Serena and Lily’s designs are a little more on the sweet and serene side.  The baby pillow sets include a set of Zodiac designs and Letter Pillows in two designs with several color options.  They are very cute and personal gift and decor ideas.

K Studio pillows are little works of art.  You can buy their premade designs or have a custom pillow designed to represent your family.  I’ve been tempted to order a custom family SO many times.

The last finalist in the category is Thomas Paul.  His home decor designs are super stylish and always on my own wishlist.  The Thomas Paul Baby collection includes a Matryoska design and a Bunny pillow, but I think you can’t overlook my favorites, the Antique Toys/Stuffed Dolls.

So, we’ve established that all the finalists are uber-chic, but which one will you be voting for?  Are there any pillows that you think should be on the list but aren’t?  Do you have photos of these pillows in your nursery?
