Monte Design is a Buy Modern Baby staple. Their rockers and gliders are the benchmark for modern nursery seating and their bassinet, high chair and new twin bed are equally beautiful, simple and well-crafted. While those should all be on your nursery wish lists, your gift list this year might include Monte’s Cubino Chair and/or Loveseat. Cubino is the kids chair that is perfectly at home in the living room as well as any nursery, bedroom, playroom or family room.
Monte Design is graciously offering Buy Modern Baby readers a chance to win a Cubino Chair ($109) in the colors of their choice. These kid sized chairs (recommended from 18 months to 7 years) are made of thick, durable foam and are covered in soft micro suede. Cubinos come in eight color combinations: Charcoal with Orange, Green, Blue or Pink and Brown with Orange, Green, Blue or Pink.
To win a Cubino Chair from Monte Design:

I usually only post products that are available for purchase or that will be coming soon, so this post is a little different. I have been hearing about Kickstarter here and there online, and when I got an email about this Little Frog Kickstarter project, I was excited to take a look.
Chadwick Parker and Joe Huang are trying to raise $40,000 to bring you these cute and fun 3-in-1 Little Frog play tables/chairs.
The video really goes into all the details…

As you can see, these are really cute (my 5 year old said so!) and totally fun. Your kickstarter “pledges” are almost like product pre-orders. For example, a $100 pledge reserves 2 monster toys and a 3-in-1 Little Frog in any of the five colors– red, yellow, green, blue and purple.
So help kick start the 3-in-1 Little Frog and be among the first to have this versatile, creative and fun piece of kids furniture. Visit Kickstarter for all the details and to make your pledge. Good luck guys!
I was tempted to buy an orange Ava Toddler Chair from Jennifer Delonge for half price once, but that little beauty stayed at the store. I still think about it. I think that means I should have gotten it.
The Jennifer Delonge Toddler Chair and slightly larger Child Chair are not only expensive (price depends on the size and fabric), but they’re hard to find, so if you happen to be looking for a pink one, you might consider the Skyline Furniture Kid’s Modern Chair as an alternative. If pink doesn’t work for you, consider splurging!
I will get to these products in more detail when they become available for purchase and I add them to the guide at buymodernbaby.com, but I want to give you a look at my favorite furniture finds from ABC Kids Expo 2010. These are the new nursery furniture pieces that really jumped out at me. Let me know what you think.
First, I am absolutely in LOVE with this gorgeous table and chair set from Svan.
It’s so new that the designer only saw the actual prototype when it arrived in Vegas on Sunday night. The chairs are super sturdy, light and stackable. Don’t hold your breath for this set because we’ll have to wait another year before we can get our hands on it. I’d love to be first in line to order one.
Another great new furniture set that will be getting a lot of attention is the Overachiever from Q Collection Jr. They have some new bedding (which I will show you more of later), a larger version of their Stella Stackable storage, a twin bed with trundle and this amazing furniture set made to grow and last. Look carefully and you will see the bassinet is made up of the ends of the crib and the changing platform. Then you re-use the ends and the crib base for the toddler bed. This whole system takes you from newborn up until you’re ready to put your child into a twin bed.
Speaking of twin beds, Q Collection has this beautiful option with optional storage drawer/trundle (which was a requirement for me when I was looking for a bed for my oldest).
I was really excited to see some new items from Nurseryworks at the show They showed a new rocker and a new glider (with a base like the Goodnight Glider they used to have, but with a different seat) as well as the Hollis Crib and Changing Table made from clear acrylic. This see-thru crib has me scratching my head. I’m not quite sold on this idea but I’m glad they are thinking outside the box and coming out with new and different things!
Finally, my last favorite furniture find from the ABC Kids Expo this year is the Bamboo series crib and changing table from Seed Organic. This is a bamboo version of their Leaf Series, which I hate to say I had actually never seen before! Both the Bamboo Series and the Leaf Series feature a unique swivel top changing table and safety drawer retractor that automatically closes one drawer when another is opened.
What do you think of these finds? Do you have a favorite?
I woke up this morning, scanned my twitter feed and saw “Bright lights, big city. We’re at Vegas for ABC Kids. Drop by and say hello at booth 5337. And see our new bunkbed (oooh….)” from @oeufbegood. Let me tell you, that got me out of bed lickety split! After a quick breakfast I hit the show floor and here it is:
Oeuf’s Ibis bunk bed. I love the simple style and neutral white finish. The top bunk is not super high but the bottom bunk still has plenty of space, and it was lovely how they accessorized the bed with a lovely Family Series Pillow from K Studio.
I can’t wait to show you all the rest, but for now you can see a preview of my photos on flickr.
My boys are rapidly approaching the age where they will be able to do sleepovers at Grandma’s house (can’t wait)! I made this room with them and their grandmother in mind. Yes, it’s got a bit of a theme, but Curious George is one of those happy, friendly characters that I felt would be comfortable and fun for the boys when they’re away from their mom and dad. We don’t do themes or characters at home, so that would just make it all the more fun and exciting for them.

I don’t really have a category for kids beds on buymodernbaby.com but I wouldn’t feel right about not sharing this lovely new item with you. I’ve admired the Oeuf Sparrow line since it came out but I didn’t consider the bed for my older son’s room because it didn’t come with a trundle, which I wanted to be sure to have for extra guest accommodations. Well, now Oeuf has rectified that situation with the new Sparrow Trundle. For $280, it’s a must-have addition to your Oeuf Sparrow Twin Bed.
I would sure love to move my little guy into this bed when he outgrows his classic Oeuf Crib. Anyone want to trade an Argington Ayers bed with trundle for one of these?! (Seriously- I have one new in the box in my garage.)
This little storage piece screams “toybox” to me, so it’s my latest addition to buymoderntoyboxes.
From ecotots, the Surfin Kids Sideboard Storage Unit is part footlocker, part bench, part sideboard and a perfect place to store frequently used toys– either in the nursery, the playroom, or even more grown-up areas of the house. This unit retails for $450.
All the products from ecotots are 100% formaldehyde free and made with FSC certified birch plywood. They use non-toxic water-based stains and require no tools to assemble. The products are available in four colors:
I’m a fan of their entire line although I would caution you not to use too many pieces together making the room too “matchy”. Using two pieces (maybe three depending on which you choose) can look coordinated; more than three looks like a showroom.
