Real Room Tour: Modern Lime Green from Little Crown Interiors

From the design duo at Little Crown Interiors, this modern lime green nursery is simple, but super stylish.  Bright pops of lime green, a patterned rug and fun wallpaper are the perfect accessories for the sculptural furniture pieces that include the Maclaren (Netto Collection) Louis Crib and Dresser (now discontinued), a mid-century side table and a beautiful Eames Lounge with Ottoman.

With a patterned wallpaper, Little Crown Interiors’ Wood Wall Heart is a simple graphic art piece on the statement wall.

I love how the room has neutral, natural feel with a distinctly feminine flair.

The room is equally comfortable for both mom and dad… and apparently the dog as well!

You KNOW that when the gorgeous family behind Puj adds another beautiful baby to the bunch, the nursery is going to be designed to perfection.

Liberty Faith’s space is like a breath of fresh spring air and is perfectly restful and calming.

Featuring Spot on Square’s Ulm Crib and other natural wood tones on a green base, this modern nursery is a park-like refuge from her three rambunctious older brothers.

My Modern Nursery #75: Sponsored by Lullaby Paints

One thing that is really fun about nursery design is that you can indulge in trends and experiment with fun colors.  By the time you’re done with a blue crib and tired of chartreuse, you’ll be redecorating the room to suit your toddler or preschooler’s tastes.

But just because you’re going to change things in the future, doesn’t mean you can’t invest in quality pieces you love.  This bright fun room is really filled with neutrals that can be re-purposed down the road.  The greenish gray paint (Wake from our sponsor Lullaby Paints) plus the natural wood elements and white rocker can be used in any space once the nursery years are over.  It’s great to plan a nursery with future use in mind and it’s smart to use more of your budget on pieces that can be used in the decades ahead.

My Modern Nursery #67: Eco Friendly for Earth Day Sponsored by Lullaby Paints

Inspired by Earth Day, I’ve put together this relaxing, gender-neutral and eco-friendly modern nursery inspiration board.  We want our children to be able to live in a healthy environment both on a global scale and in their homes and the spaces they will occupy as they develop and grow.

For so many of us, while we’re expecting our first child might be the first time we start to think about the materials, toxins and chemicals that we use in our homes.  When we moved into our new home while I was expecting baby #2, this meant I was also looking for safe and healthy paint, not just for the nursery walls, but throughout the house.  We found the best options we could by looking for low-VOC paints, but I wish I had found Lullaby Paints at the time.  With eco-friendly packaging, a non-toxic formula and the ability to order reasonably priced sample paint pouches (4 for $10) before you commit to a color, this was JUST what I was looking for.

For this Earth Day nursery I selected Celadon, a fresh, easy-to-use pale green that says spring, and all my other eco-friendly finds fit in perfectly with it.

Emerald: Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2013

If we can judge a year by its color, 2013 is going to be the best year yet.  With Emerald as my birthstone, I love this radiant and rich shade as predictor of the color trend for the coming year.  While I would probably gravitate to a darker emerald (the way I like my stones), 17-5641 is a versatile and easy to use shade of green.  Somewhere between a pastel and forest green, it’s gender neutral, natural and elegant.

Here are a few ways to introduce the 2013 color of the year into your home.

1- Offi EVA Foam Chairs in Blue and Green– $199
2- Kale Kauzebot– $25
3- Twinkle Living Necklace Throw Pillow– $58
4- Artecnica Themis Prism– $40
5- Bugaboo Bee Stroller and Canopy – Special Edition-Jade Green– $660
6- La Pera- The Pear Poster by Enzo Mari– $550
7- Vipp 15 Kitchen Bin- Limited Edition Copenhagen Green- $319
8- Beatrix Little Kid Percival T Rex Backpack– $42
9- Pantone 2013 Color of the Year Mug- Emerald– $25
10- Crochet Floor Cushion- Green by lacasadecotó – $64

My Modern Nursery #59: Mid-Century Muted Modern

I don’t typically like the convertible cribs with high backs that are supposed to be reused as headboards, but there’s just something about the Park West Collection from Westwood Design that allows me to accept that detail in this particular crib.  With its straight lines and Walnut finish, the collection caught my eye from the first time I saw it at the ABC Kids Expo. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to use it in a design, but this was a lot of fun to put together.

1- Centric Mobile from Schmitt Design- $198
2- Westwood Design Park West Dressing Combo Plus, Walnut– $500
Westwood Design Park West Dresser Hutch, Walnut– $350
Gold Piggy Bank from Jonathan Adler- $168
3- NYC from Staten Island by Matte Stephens on poster cabaret- $60
4- Roddy The Owl Screenprint from Roddy and Ginger- $40
5- Westwood Design Park West Convertible Crib, Walnut– $500
6- Sasha Floor Lamp from Room & Board- $400
7- Spindle Clock by George Nelson- $525
8- Cloud Pillow- Gray from blabla kids- $62
Pin Dot Moss Fitted Crib Sheet from DwellStudio- $40
9- Jensen Chair in Geo Citrine from DwellStudio- $1725
Woodrow the wood grain bunny from Sleepy King- $30
10- Surya Aimee Wilder AIW-3 Rug– 5′ x 8′- $770 (see the rug in a room)

This room got a little pricey so I’m including some less expensive ideas…
