New Grazia Glider from Monte
We got a preview of the Grazia Glider back in October, and now here she is. This is a great new addition to Monte’s unparalleled collection of nursery seating. I love the high curved back, but what really sets this gorgeous glider apart is the brushed stainless steel base. Like all of Monte’s gliders, it is available in a selection of colors and includes a solid lumbar pillow of your choice. Here you can see it in Heather Grey with a Missoni pillow (an $85 option). You can also choose the optional contrast piping on this glider and the matching Grazia Ottoman.
I just have to share a couple more photos because the back of this chair is just as hot as the front.
The Grazia Swivel Glider retails for about $1200 and the matching Grazia Ottoman is $445.
In the photo at the top you can also see Monte’s all new Duo Side Table, which is designed to sit perfectly next to your Monte glider or rocker. It comes in walnut (shown $495), espresso and white ($395).
Nursery Seating for Under $500
Rockers and gliders are one of those nursery furniture pieces that take a big chunk of the budget. Especially if you share our modern aesthetic, finding a rocking chair or glider that you really love for a price that you can be happy about is really difficult. I was shooting for a top 10 list here, but I only found 8 that fit the bill (pun intended!).

This is just like the Nurseryworks Sleepytime Rocker but with different color choices and $200 less.

6- Modernica Arm Shell- $435 Comes in 20 colors and with 4 base options.
The Eames Molded Plastic Rocker is just over the $500 budget here so I selected the Modernica Fiberglass version. You can find lots of other knockoffs of this design for even less. For discussion of knockoffs visit here and here.

I was trying to be rather selective about style. There are other modern style gliders out there but some of the proportions were just so far off I couldn’t bear to subject you to them.
I can’t make any guarantees about the comfort or durability of these seats. With so many things, you get what you pay for. On the other hand, we got our glider (no longer available) for under $500 and after 7 years we’re still happy with how it looks and functions!

New From Monte for 2013 at ABC Kids Expo
A perennial favorite on BuyModernBaby, Monte Design has a few new things in store for 2013.
The Grazia Glider is Monte’s roomiest glider to date. What really caught my eye was the beautiful Stainless Steel swivel base under the seat. Sorry you can’t really see it in this photo, but what you CAN see is the beautiful, authentic Missoni fabric lumbar pillow that will soon be available.
Monte’s upholstered Dorma Bed has a few new options. It will soon be available as a Double as well as a Twin, and will have an optional trundle and toddler rails.
Finally, they are introducing a side table called the Duo. This elegant little table measures 14″ wide and 20″ tall and will come in walnut, white and espresso. While it’s made to go perfectly next to a Monte rocker or glider, this table will fit anywhere in your home!

Monte Rockers and Gliders Now in Yellow
Yellow is starting to edge out orange for when you need a bright pop of color in the modern nursery. Now that Monte is offering all its rockers and gliders (and their Dorma Twin Bed) with yellow as an upholstery option, it’s going to be an even more popular choice!

Kipling Glider & Ottoman from Gus Modern
I love a great glider, probably because years ago I had so much trouble finding one. Today I’m excited to share Gus* Modern’s new Kipling Glider and Ottoman with you.
The geometric shape is inspired by children’s wood blocks and the upholstery features French seams that are pretty popular right now. The Walnut base is easy to coordinate with many other modern nursery pieces.
The Kipling Glider and Ottoman come in this Muskoka Surf color as well as a gray called Baldwin Mist.

New Dutailier Popping Up
So we’ve been waiting for the debut of the new Dutailier, and you should now be seeing these online and in stores.
First we’ve got the Verona Glider at giggle. It’s available in two nice neutral fabrics for $1000. You KNOW Dutailier knows how to make a comfy glider, but now they’re making ones that are beautiful enough to fit into your modern nursery design.
Next, if you Google the different nursery collections (Papaya, Melon, Mango and Pomelo), you can start to see some of them on various retailer sites. You can also search Dutailier’s website for a dealer near you. The prices vary by retailer and they are upwards of $1000 for the cribs. In addition to their unique designs, what I really love about these is how (with an additional kit) the cribs transform, not into toddler beds, but into twin beds. This REALLY significantly prolongs their life.

These two gliders from Little Castle are their most sleek, modern new styles. These aren’t super inexpensive (the old model that I like, Monaco, is just under $700), but these simple designs will last a long time as they go from nursery to your own bedroom or den with ease.
Babyletto‘s new glider, the Madison Glider Rocker should be available in February 2012 and will retail for about $350.
I found these two seats at Newco. It seems that Jennifer Delonge has partnered with Newco to get these to you for less than $800. The one on the right is the Grand Glider for $800. It looks so much better in my photo than online. Not that my photos are good, but it does go to show that good photography makes all the difference (or at least that bad images are VERY bad).

A Few New Offerings from Monte
Monte was my first stop on the floor of the ABC Kids Expo. Ralph Montemurro was on hand to show me their brand new twin Dorma Bed, which is a fully upholstered bed with headboard, footboard and side rails.
There is also a new ottoman for the Joya Rocker and a new Heather Grey color shown here on a Luca Glider.
The new items will be available to order in stores and online in about six weeks.
After about five years, Monte gliders are still the benchmark for modern nursery seating. I can guarantee if they had been around when I purchased my nursery furniture (already 6 years ago!), there would be a Luca Glider in our home. And if somehow we were faced with a baby #3, I sure hope we’d have a Ninna Nanna bassinet to await him or her.

Dutailier’s New Direction: Show Stopping Collections
Wow. Wow. Wow. My mouth dropped open. I could NOT believe what I was seeing. I hadn’t even planned on visiting Dutailier. They were located way in the back corner of the furniture section, and they don’t usually have anything of great interest to me, so boy was I surprised at what I saw.
I’m just going to show you the photos right now and we’ll talk more about what’s going on later.
