I Spy: The New Nursery on Parenthood
I don’t watch a whole lot of television. With my blogging schedule, there’s not a lot of time for it, but I do make sure to keep up to date with Parenthood on Hulu since I can watch it here on my computer! In the latest episode of NBC’s Parenthood, It Is What It Is, Julia has been putting together the nursery for her soon-to-be-born adopted child. Hopefully that situation will unfold without too much drama, but in the meantime, I spied a couple great items that are going into the room. First, these prints leaning against the wall getting ready to be hung….

The Red Fox, Owl and Lion Screenprints from Sass & Peril are $30, $20 and $28 respectively.

Julia is also shown assembling a Ray crib from Muu in all Hazelnut!

Great choices Julia (and the prop and set people for the show)!

Real Room Tour: Beautifully Muted
I’ve found a lovely nursery to share with you as the first Real Room Tour of the year. The calm and beautiful space that Elizabeth assembled for her little Owen is a wonderful gender neutral inspiration.

I’m finding this color palette so soothing and lovely. While it’s perfect for little Owen, I can see this nursery being just as lovely for a little girl.

Isn’t he precious?!

The origami mobile could be a free DIY project, but it looks stunning and chic in place here over the crib.

I love the book ledges as wall decor and the soft mint green side table is a sweet addition that will really be able to withstand the test of time.

Thanks you so much Elizabeth for allowing me to share these beautiful photos of Owen and his nursery! You can see more of Elizabeth’s beautiful home on flickr.

Joining the Family: Welcome Our New Sponsor 41 Orchard
Today I’m happy to introduce you to a wonderful new sponsor of our work here at buymodernbaby.com. It’s a thrill for me to see the pretty little ads running along the side of the page with the opportunity to explore all their great products just a click away.
I have only recently been introduced to 41 orchard and am really impressed with their line of beautifully designed modern wall stickers (aka decals). Coming to us from Australia, the fabric decals from 41 orchard have a style all their own. The Australian dollar converts to about $1.04 here in the US and $1.05 in Canada, so the prices you see aren’t too far off and I consider their shipping to be quite reasonable (Australia wide: $6.00, North America & Canada: $10.50, New Zealand: $9.00, UK & Europe: $11.00, Asia Pacific: $9.00). Find them on Facebook.

Please be sure to visit and support our sponsors. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without them.
Modern Stork Craft Crib Choices
I’m so glad when I find modern choices from more affordable nursery furniture brands and I know so many of you are as well. While the gorgeous designer modern cribs might be on our wishlists, sometimes the reality is that a new baby is expensive and we have to take care of all its needs in a more cost efficient way. So here are my latest finds for the more practical among us.
From Stork Craft, we have two great and affordable models.
First the Monza II Fixed Side Convertible Crib.

This crib is obviously designed to turn into a full sized bed down the road. It’s got a bit of a bubbly shape and while the styling in Stork Craft’s photography is less than inspiring, I think the photo submitted by an amazon customer shows that the crib has potential.

The Monza II retails for about $210 and you can pick many of the colors (white, oak, cherry and black) up from my amazon affiliate for $200. Espresso and cognac are a little higher.
The second option I want to point out from Stork Craft is the Sheffield Fixed Side Convertible Crib.

This ultra-simple crib retails for $180. You can find it via my Cymax affiliate in Espresso and White for $126.
They Posted These So I Don’t Have To
These are some of my favorite posts from around the web this past week.
I love Baby Roo’s Cozy & Colorful City Digs and the new digs at Apartment Therapy as well. Click on over if you haven’t seen their revamped site yet.

I’ve been poking around waiting to find this but Coos & Ahhs beat me to it and posted what’s New from Ferm Living. I’ll post more about what they’ve get when it hits their US shop, but click through if you want a preview.

I keep meaning to do a comprehensive nightlight guide but until I do, check out these adorable nightlights on baby style file!

Poufs or any soft ottomans are great pieces to have in children’s spaces. They are extra seating, can easily be moved around and nobody is going to bump themselves on them. Style Carrot put together this extensive collection of 25 (more) Poufs (only a few are pictured here), so you’re bound to find a look you’ll love.

And my favorite themed roundup of the week is Small for Big’s collection of Yetis in are we there yeti?! This is a unique collection of adorable creatures and one is more cuddly than the next!

Hope you had a great week and a lucky Friday the 13th!
Rich or Reasonable: Rocking Sheep
For some reason, I’m a sucker when it comes to rocking toys, so cozy, fuzzy rocking sheep really get my attention.

On the left we have the Rocking Sheep designed by Povl Kjer that was available from Crafts Collection. I can’t find any place where you can actually order this “rockin’” design, but according to the The Perfect Baby Handbook, it would have set you back $575. I saw these in reports from ICFF years ago, but for $575, you can imagine why they weren’t more popular.

Inspired by Povl Kjer, Max Tyrie of Bright Spark Design on etsy came up with his own interpretation of the Rocking Sheep. It might be a little less rock-n-roll, but this handmade in the USA sheep still rocks! Each one is made to order out of Baltic birch plywood, some reclaimed scrap wood and real sheepskin.

For more of my favorite rocking toys, see my list in our modern toy guide.
