New Puzzle Playhouse from Modern Playhouse
Our favorite modern playhouse company, with the perfectly appropriate name, Modern Playhouse, has come out with a brand new design. The Puzzle Playhouse ($650) can be assembled without tools and then can be easily taken apart and stored in a closet or even under a bed. I love the concept since I’m pretty sure that most homes don’t have the space to keep a playhouse up full time– we don’t!

The Puzzle Furniture Set includes a fold up table and stools for $260, but if you order your Puzzle Playhouse before November 1st, 2011, you’ll get the furniture set for free!
I’m actually shocked that I never posted about their other playhouses before.
Take a look at the Circle Playhouse ($1300),

… and the Wedge Playhouse ($1100).

None of their playhouses are meant to be used outdoors, but that would be a great idea for their next design. I have a whole lot more room in the yard than I do in my house!

Lovemaki Giveaway
Lovemaki is a shop filled with lovely, whimsical art and decor pieces that are sweet enough for any baby, but sophisticated for the most stylish parents. You could easily design a perfectly lovely nursery using just lovemaki prints and cushions as your inspiration (hmm… I may have to do just that!).
Just look at those comfy, sweet Cloud Cushions. They’re available in Off-White, Lilac, Blue and Purple.

The Heart Cushions Covers are super chic and can be used in any room of the house. You can get them in English as shown, or in French, with “j’adore”.

There are also a number of different art prints, and many can be ordered in several color combinations.
We have shared a lot of alphabet prints on Buy Modern Baby, but I should probably start giving numbers prints like these a little more attention!

The Love and Je T’aime prints are among my personal favorites.

As a special treat for you all, Justine Cajanding, the founder and artist behind lovemaki, is offering a chance to win your choice of a 13″ x 19″ lovemaki print or an 8.5″ x 11″ customized UP UP UP print!
To win your choice of print (worth up to $45):

Be sure to enter your email address when you comment so that I can contact you if you are the winner.

The winner will be chosen randomly (using random.org) from among the unique entrants. The giveaway is open internationally so anyone over age 18 can enter! Good luck and tell your friends!
Etsy Finds: Handmade Halloween Monsters 2011
We’ve all known this since our earliest Sesame Street watching days– monsters can be scary or they can be cute and cuddly. Etsy sellers make them both ways.
First, these monster face prints from Joseph Harrold Gallery are cute for $15. The original paintings are also available for $75.

There’s an entire collection of Monchi Monster Plush Toys from Cheek and Stitch (Teeto and Zandy Bunny shown)- $34 each.

These guys are a little on the scarier side, but stuck flat on your walls they’re pretty harmless. Monsters Set of Four Wall Decals from Planet Wall Art- $35

And the Monster Mayhem Felt Baby Mobile from Red Marionette is just plain cuteness. $90

If the monsters are all too much for you…
No Monsters Allowed from John W Golden- $60

The Best Pirate Product Roundup Ever
I’ve got a couple of 2 and 3 year old pirate fans. My younger son and his little girl friend play pirates together at our house almost every week. They put on pirate hats and march around the house saying “arrrr.” The bed is a pirate ship, a piece of cloth is a treasure map and they go on some wonderful adventures together.
In honor of their terrific times together and their love for playing pirates, I couldn’t resist putting together this pirate roundup.
It’s great Halloween inspiration and has a lot of holiday gift possibilities as well!

Parents Magazine Best Blog Awards
In case you didn’t see, Buy Modern Baby was nominated in Parents Magazine’s Best Blog Awards for Best Gear and Toys Blog. Now, while I have no hope of reaching the #1 spot (500 votes!), I appreciate every vote as a vote of confidence and support for all the work I do on a daily basis.
If you’re feeling generous, I’d truly appreciate your vote. It’s little things like this that keep me motivated to keep bringing you posts filled with all the latest and greatest. Voting ends at the end of this week so now’s your last chance. Thank you!
Petit Collage Dolls
These new dolls from Petit Collage are absolutely precious. The collection of three dolls will be available at the end of the month, but can be pre-ordered now for $44 each.

Queen of Hearts Modern Doll (Top)
Apple of My Eye Modern Doll (Bottom Left), Sweet Pea Modern Doll (Bottom Right)
It’s just too bad that my one and only niece is too old for dolls.
Logan: New Bedding Collection from Olli & Lime
Famous for their modern, gender neutral bedding designs, Olli & Lime has departed from their comfort zone (just a little) to bring you their modern interpretation of pink. Despite being the mom of two boys, I think Logan‘s pink + gray + pinwheels = a hit.
And I love the name! Olli & Lime have recently relocated to the US, settling in Boston, so “Logan” is the lovely airport they’ll be traveling in a out of for the time being! I have my own fond memories of Logan airport from back in my graduate school days… but I digress.
Here she is….

As you can see, the collection is complete with bedding sets, changing pad cover, decorative pillow and wall art (abc and 123). There are also bibs, burp cloths, hooded blankets and coordinating Jellycat plush animals (so cute!).

I also want to let you know that Olli & Lime have partnered with Frazier + Wing to create mobiles to go with each of their bedding sets! They are available exclusively on olliandlime.com.
Keep track of all that’s new with olli & lime by following their really nice blog.
Goodnight iPad
I discovered this cute book through my twitter friend TheBabyGuyNYC. He posted about Ann Droyd’s (hehe= good pseudonym!) new book Goodnight iPad: a Parody for the next generation.
It was the perfect weekend for me to hear about this book, because I just tried to go 24 hours without my computer ipad and twitter. Unfortunately, I must admit that I failed quite miserably. We spent a bit too much time at home for me to go cold turkey, but I did spend less time with my devices than I usually do.
Check the book out…
You can pre-order Goodnight iPad via my amazon.com affiliate. It will be released on October 27, 2011, in plenty of time for holiday gift giving!
They Posted These So I Don’t Have To
These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week.
This Sunny Yellow inspiration board on ebabee Likes just makes me smile. So cheerful and it’s got me thinking yellow.

This pop art inspired nursery for Poppy featured on Ohdeedoh this week is just too cool. It’s girly perfection that even a teenage girl would be comfortable with.

Ampersand Design Studio Spotted: Rex Ray for Blik. It’s such a great collection of wall decals that would be at home in a modern nursery or anywhere else in the home. Love!

And Nursery Notations totally beat me to posting the New Pieces from West Elm. She picked the best ones. Beautiful.

Finally, my favorite relevant Steve Jobs quote (as I sit at my iMac, my little one plays on my iPad and I wait for my iPhone to alert me that it’s time to head to the bus stop to pick up my Kindergartner):
“Most people make the mistake of thinking design is what it looks like. People think it’s this veneer – that the designers are handed this box and told, ‘Make it look good!’ That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
Something to keep in mind with all design.
