Kids Konserve Earth Day Giveaway Results
Happy Earth Day everyone! Thanks to all who entered the giveaway to win a Reusable Lunch Kit from Kids Konserve. There were so many great lunch suggestions. Just print out the list of comments to refer to when you’re in a lunch rut!
The randomly generated winner is Scott who would fill the Lunch Kit with an organic “bird bread” sandwich with lightlife veggie baloney, tofutti cream cheese, and organic pickles, a bunch of organic grapes, a handful of garden of eatin’ chips, and homemade fresh organic lemonade to drink.
You all were making me so hungry with your lunch suggestions and I just WISH my 5 yo would eat something other than PB&J with a side of pretzel sticks (which we have to pack for him EVERY DAY!).
You really do have to go read through the entry comments for some inspiring lunch ideas!

Thanks to Kids Konserve for sponsoring this great giveaway. They have a great selection of products to make waste-free lunch packing a cinch! Through the end of April using the coupon code “reuse2011″ to get 20% off your purchase from Kids Konserve.
Real Room Tour: Cooper’s Comfortable Modern Nursery
Sometimes it’s hard to think past the newborn stage when planning a nursery, but if you simultaneously design a space that works for newborn, infant, toddler, and preschooler, you’re really going to get the most for your money and efforts.
Today’s nursery tour is a great example of a space that can be adapted to suit any age. This incredibly warm modern nursery from Amanda of AJ Cooper is transitioning from nursery to little boy’s room as we speak and as Cooper grows.

If only the Storytime rocker were still available in orange! I love how the orange goes with the warm wood dresser, and that wood side table is a nice study piece in a room with an active little boy. He’s not going to break that thing.

The original design inspiration for the room came from the Caden Lane Blue Twiggy fabric that is part of the crib bedding. As you can see, the wall mural is an adaptation of that design. I love when they go around a corner like that. The crib is the Loom Crib from nurseryworks and it looks incredible in this nursery.

Laura Rittenhouse Studio Furniture
I added Laura Rittenhouse’s Silver Moon crib to buymodercribs years ago, but it’s never been this easy to place your order for pieces in the Silver Moon collection. AllModernBaby.com* is now taking orders for this ultra-high-end line of nursery furniture. This is as expensive as it gets. The pieces are made by hand out of Mahogany and can customized with Sterling Silver inlay.

Crib- $6,500 or $8,000 with silver inlay
Changer- $4,000 or $4,200 with silver inlay
Armoire- 24″ wide $7,500, 40″ wide $11,000
Mirror (made of Eucalyptus)- $800
Now if only I could find photos of a nursery with this collection. Can you imagine?!

Table and Chairs Sets for the Nursery or Playroom
I have felt badly for a while that I don’t have a list of table and chair sets among my buymodernbaby product guides because there are so many beautiful choices out there. So I’m going to start sharing some of my favorites.
Today I’m sharing a few sets that come with a table and more than one chair.
P’kolino has a few great and reasonably priced sets.

Their newest collection, the Safari Collection includes this table and chairs set for $200 (with additional duck and ostrich chairs pictured- additional $100). I’ve also always liked their Chalk Table (below left) for $90 and Little One’s Table and Chairs Sets (below right) for $150 (available in white and orange).

Knu Kids Table & 2 Chairs Set comes as shown for $500.

This Anka Mini Furniture Set is a great deal for $200. It includes a table, three chairs and a stool.

Oh, and the rattle in the video is here.
Real Room Tour: For A Mini Fashionista
This nursery is the first room that Regan, from the fashion blog Cardigans & Couture, has ever decorated from scratch. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s a wonderful design debut. (see the original plan here)
The first thing that jumps out at you (other than the giant duckie!) is the wall decals. I’ve said before, if you’re going to do the decals, do it big, and one way to do that is to make a repeating pattern that looks like it could be wallpaper. That’s been done really well here using the Flower Burst Vinyl Wall Graphic from Byrdie Graphics. For $3 each, they’re an economical way to make a big impact.

Regan is particularly pleased with her custom bedding selection, which she designed with help from Tiptoe Studio. The bedding looks bright and beautiful in the Classic Oeuf Crib.

Across from the crib, the reading corner makes use of the ever popular Ikea Expedit bookcase and an Herman Miller Eames Rocking Chair.

The fun storage bins from 3 sprouts do a great job holding a collection of stuffed animals Regan will be passing down to her new little one.

I have to mention the brown teddy bear above because it has a particularly lovely story. It was made from Regan’s grandmother’s fur coat. The soles of his feet were made from the lining of the coat, which had her monogram on the inside. Talk about a treasured keepsake!

Thank you so much Reagan for sharing the photos of your nursery. I hope you get to bring your little girl home to it very soon!
(If you would like me to feature your nursery here as well, please drop a line to esther@buymodernbaby.com)

These are some of my favorite posts from around the web over the past week.
Triangles are a hot and these embroidered animals from Hide the Good Scissors are a stunning find from 2 modern blog.

I wouldn’t be doing my job properly if I didn’t show you Wishbone’s ‘Flip’ 2-in-1 Ride-On Toy & Rocker (via Inhabitots). I love multi-purpose designs like this.

Chic Spaces for Little Faces put together a lovely post in honor of spring, “Bring on the Sunshine!“ It includes a handful of sunny art prints (including the set below) from a number of etsy sellers.

In our continued effort to make sure you have the coolest Easter ever, have a look at Coos & Ahhs roundup of “Bunnies Bunnies Bunnies!!!”

And “The Bunny Hop” on Diaper Style Memoirs has three more wonderful Easter picks including Playsam’s Rocking Rabbit shown below.

Have a fantastic weekend. We’ve got T-ball, a playdate and a birthday party. Do you have anything exciting planned? Also, feel free to include links to your favorite posts of the past week in the comments!
Earth Day Giveaway from Kids Konserve!
Between Passover and Easter, Earth Day doesn’t quite seem to be getting the coverage it deserves, but we’re going to turn your attention to caring for the planet with this week’s wonderful giveaway from Kids Konserve.
Earth Day is a great time to remember to reduce, reuse and recycle, and Kids Konserve products are all about reusing. One simple change you can make this Earth Day to reduce your waste and teach your kids the value of reusing is to get rid of the plastic lunch baggies and the brown paper bags for good.

With their Lunch Kits, Snak Paks, bottles, bags and food containers, Kids Konserve has everything you need to kick your disposable habits. Waste free lunch kits (and the other Kids Konserve products) are non-toxic, non-leaching, BPA, PVC, Phthalate and lead-free! We’re happy to have recently added some wonderful Kids Konserve products to our feeding guide!

To help celebrate Earth Day and spread the word about your reusable lunch options, Kids Konserve is offering 20% off your purchase at kidskonserve.com through the end of April using the coupon code “reuse2011″ and will be giving away a Lunch Kit (shown above) to one lucky buymodernbaby reader!
This kit is a $45 value and includes a recycled cotton sack, cloth napkin, stainless steel beverage bottle, food kozy and two stainless steel food containers. My 5 year old starts Kindergarden in the fall and I hope to get a couple of these kits myself so that I never have to buy another one of those plastic baggies again!
To enter and have a chance to win the Kids Konserve Lunch Kit:
Leave a comment with a lunch idea that would fit in the kit. Make sure to include 4 items: drink, two sides and a “main course.” We will delete any entries that don’t include a lunch idea.
Be sure to enter your email address when you comment so that we can contact you if you are the winner.
The deadline to leave your comment and enter the giveaway is next Friday, April 22nd, Earth Day at 8 am.
The winner will be chosen randomly from among the unique entrants (just one entry per person). I’ll be posting the winner on my Facebook page first, so look out and like me over there. The giveaway is open to US residents only. Good luck and tell your friends!
