Real Room Tour: Sunny and Citrusy

Do I have a treat for you today… a lovely citrus treat!  The more I scan through these pictures, the more I love this room.

My favorite feature is the library wall.  So simple, so useful, and I love that you can always change what’s on there.  An Ikea staple, the Hemnes 3 drawer chest makes a simple changer/dresser, and the arrangement of art above it is a great personal collection.

Who needs a little mobile when you’ve got giant globe lanterns to look at.  The variety of sizes and the beautiful colors really make these a lovely feature.

The bedding, basket liners and matching valance were handmade (click on them for tutorials from Jessica’s blog), and the crib is the ParkLane crib from Baby Mod.

The color palette in this room is so cheerful and unique, but it also has that bright pink color that makes it so on trend.  I love the little storage basket next to the chair and in case you didn’t notice it, the window seat also serves as toy storage– so practical.  In case you are interested, the bouncer is Carter’s Cuddle Me Musical Bouncer in a cute “Bumble” pattern (and you can purchase it from Babies R Us through my affiliate link).

Thanks to Jessica for sharing these nursery photos with us.  It’s a space worthy of that gorgeous baby of yours.  Congratulations and Happy Holidays!

Robot Matryoshkas

I found these Robot Matryoshkas (nesting dolls) and they’re so cool I had to share.

If you’re interested in more “Matryokshka Madness,” the blog “if it’s hip, it’s here” already did a great post with all kinds of matryoshkas so I don’t have to.

Ducduc Knows How It’s Done

Ducduc was one of the original modern baby brands, and back five years ago they were on my earliest lists of cribs, dressers/changers and rockers on buymodernbaby.com.  When they show a modern nursery, they know exactly what they’re doing.  I just discovered some new photos they posted on ducducnyc.com and you’ve got to take a look. With so much new nursery furniture coming out all the time, I sometimes forget about ducduc’s extensive line.  I’m so glad these pictures came out to remind me just how much awesome they have going on over there.  Take a look:

Pink nursery featuring AJ armoire, AJ crib and AJ 3 drawer changer:

Neutral nursery featuring Alex changer, Parker playtable (I’ve always wanted one of these), Collins rocker, Alex crib, Alex armoire and Alex 4 drawer dresser:

There are a few more photos I didn’t post here so if you’re interested, please visit ducduc’s rooms gallery.

You can shop ducduc’s collection at my affiliate Fawn & Forest or any number of online retailers.  It’s not cheap, but it is top-notch and ultra-customizable.

New Addition: Gus* Sparrow Glider

I can honestly say, that now, six years after starting to shop for a nursery glider, and as I come to the end of the time that I need one, I have finally found the PERFECT chair.

Straight, clean lines, neutral upholstery, high backed and wings to rest your tired head in the middle of the night make this the glider I have always dreamed of.  It’s the Sparrow Glider from Gus*.

This beauty retails for about $1400 with the glider.

Happy Friday! Sesame Street: African Alphabet

In honor of my little one learning to sing his ABCs this week, here’s one of my favorite renditions of the English alphabet:

In case you’re interested in the words (genius!):
Amazingly Beautiful Creatures Dancing Excites the Forest Glade, in my Heart how I do Jump like the Kudo Listen to the Music so Nice the Organ Plays. Quietly Rests the Sleepy Tiger Under the Vine tree at the Waters side and X marks the place neath the Yellow moon where the Zulu king and I did hide.

Have a great weekend!

Shopping Guide: Wallpaper That Inspires

If you’ve ever had to remove old wallpaper from a home or lived in a home with wallpaper from the 70s, you may be a little shell-shocked to think about wallpaper.  But take a look at some of these fun designs for kids and see if they might change your mind.  I can’t help think that they will be the nightmare of some future generation, but for now they are oh so cool.

My top favorite is Aimee Wilder.  All I can say is wow!  The Robots and Squirrels are too fun, and there’s a pattern called Baby that totally has my mind changed about wallpaper.

Ferm Living has a lot of beautiful patterns in exciting colors.

Hot Air Balloon Wallpaper

DwellStudio has started making custom wallpaper and it is divine.  You enter your wall size, choose the pattern, color, scale and size.  Totally custom and totally awesome.

Olli & Lime have wallpaper as part of their collections.

I love bholu, whether it’s on the floor, on a pillow, or on your walls.

Finally, before I get too carried away here, I have to mention Graham & Brown because we may never have taken notice of wallpaper again if it weren’t for Frames by Taylor and Wood.  They have lots of other fun pattern as well.

And now that I’ve done all that research, I will be sure to add my wallpaper finds as a new category on buymoderndecor!

New Addition: Not Rational Diaper Bags

You may think it’s “not rational” to spend over $500 on a diaper bag, but if you’re into expensive handbags and designer shoes, then one of these might be on your wish list this holiday season.  Not Rational diaper bags are fashionable bags, beautiful enough to buy even if you don’t have kids.  These leather bags can be your handbag long after the kids are out of diapers, which might make them a reasonable choice after all (for celebrities and fashionistas at least!).

There are three diaper bag styles, Kelly (top, from $660), Hansel (bottom left, from $595) and Gretel (bottom right, from $650).

I’ve just added Not Rational bags to my list of modern diaper bags. To see the full list, go to buymoderndiaperbags.

Real Room Tour: Gorgeous in Lime Green

I’m so happy to share another inspiring nursery with you all.  Obviously, the green color is the main design element in this room and Molly pulled together accessories from a wide variety of places to create this unified look for her son Ethan:

The Fringe Rug from CB2 is just too perfect in this space!   It creates such a great open area to lay on the ground and play.

I love the LittoKids Manhattan Crib with Olli & Lime George Bedding.  This photo of the crib and bedding almost looks like a catalog photo:

You can’t help but be impressed how good the Olli & Lime bedding looks here:

How do you like this stylish reading area with a White Microfiber Modern Swivel Chair?  The green knit pouf from CB2 is a focal point in the room.  If you want one of these, you’ll have to settle for gray or orange because the green is no longer available.  You also can’t help but notice the perfect little details like the lovely trash bin and frog humidifier:

The Quba Modern Day Bed is a great lounge (sleep!) space and the beautiful toys on it are the Parum Pum Pum drum and B. Whacky Ball from B.Toys:

Etsy Find: Finns & Flowers Handmade Toys

Of course it was the dollhouse that caught my eye.  Everyone should have just the right dollhouse and this one is just right for someone.  The Small Wooden Dollhouse is $85.

The Natural Wooden Circle Stacker ($35) and Wooden Tumbler Rattle ($18) would also make great gifts.

Thanks to those etsy sellers who take great photos of their products.  It makes them so much easier to love!
